If you want wild livin’ fast, cruise to the Eros Theatre this weekend for a classic Russ Meyer double bill of Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill! and Motorpsycho on 35mm.

I watched Season 1 last year. I was with it for a few episodes, but then it fell apart in spectacular fashion. It completely lost the essence of King, which is great storytelling and characters. Haven't been able to bring myself to gamble on Season 2, even though I love the Annie Wilkes character.

My favorite Wes Craven film was filmed pre-A Nightmare on Elm Street. Although it was disowned by the writer/director and was equally dismissed by audiences, there is no Wes Craven film that brings me more joy or that I've seen more than The Hills Have Eyes Part II.

Craven purists will find many thematic and visual similarities to his other work, and the film marks an important bridge between The Last House on the Left and The Hills Have Eyes. Also like those early films, The Fireworks Woman is a roughie, so proceed with caution.

I've long been fascinated by the early films of Wes Craven, and there is no rarer find than The Fireworks Woman. Because it was a hardcore sex film, Craven used the pseudonym Abe Snake, and he also has a starring role. Catch The Fireworks Woman on 35mm this Saturday at midnight at the Eros Theatre!
