When Britain was in the EU, Britons were also EU “citizens”. Why EU directives always speak of “citizens”? Because we can vote.

As a general rule, if you used a smartphone app for checking your identity during the application process (this also applies for *some* people on Hong Kong BN(O) visa and the Ukraine Schemes) and can check you status online, then you ALREADY HAVE AN E-VISA!!
However, a tiny number of people who made PAPER APPLICATIONS to the EUSS and people who had their status confirmed under the Windrush scheme and BRP holders now need to create an online UKVI account.
There is an awful lot of confusion around eVisa.
The vast majority of people who got their status granted under the EUSS already have an online UKVI account, which is the same as an eVisa (which is just a new name for "online / digital status").
We already have a digital immigration system.
There are millions of legally resident EU citizens who do not have any physical proof at all of their right to live and work in the UK, and who live in constant fear of a Windrush situation.
