Yes, theyβre absolutely delightful.
Wow! How gorgeous they look! π
Lovely Wood Anemone, (aka Windflower), Anemone nemorosa, among the Daffodils at Lesnes Abbey Woods. #WildflowerHour #SignsOfSpring

The Wild Daffodils, Narcissus pseudonarcissusΒ subsp.Β pseudonarcissus, at Lesnes Abbey Woods are looking spectacular at the moment. π #WildflowerHour #SignsOfSpring
How splendid, Pam!
#Wildflowerhour #Signsofspring. One of my favourite spring flowers is Yellow Star Of Bethlehem (Gagea lutea) seen in Cumbria this week.
What a wonderful carpet of Sweet Violets, Fran! I can well imagine how beautiful the scent was.
Carpets of Celandine and Sweet Violet (latter scenting the air beautifully), Norway Maple, Wood Anemone, Wild Strawberry and Common Dog-Violet (V. riviniana with βrivenβ spur - thanks to VC6 Helena for that aide memoire!) #SignsofSpring #WildflowerHour
Thank you ππ These arenβt from my garden: theyβre all wild flowers.
Thank you very much, Helen! π
Some #SignsOfSpring in N. Wilts. for the first #WildflowerHour challenge of 2026: Wood Anemone, Marsh Marigold, Bluebell, Red Campion, Sweet Violet, Green Hellebore, Goat Willow, Wych Elm, Alder & Early Dog-violet. @bsbibotany.bsky.social @wildflowerhour.bsky.social
That is disappointing to say the least! Sadly, I had a similar experience when I went to a good Toothwort site yesterday. Much to my dismay, forestry βoperationsβ were underway there too, supposedly to remove dead Ash, but many Hazel stools had also been cut down - a scene of widespread destruction.
π Any luck with your Toothwort hunting this week? Iβll be checking favoured sites hereabouts this weekend.
I believe fern enthusiasts are called pteridomaniacs, at least they were in Victorian times!
Whether itβs a first Lesser Celandine flower of the year or Elder leaves unfurling. The first #WildflowerHour challenge of the year is to spot #SignsOfSpring! Share your finds this Sunday 8-9pm. With the mild weather, more and more flowers are popping up β like my first lesser celandine, dandelion, Primrose, Cornelian cherry, Fingered speedwell, and Wall speedwell.
Thanks to #WildflowerHour for this fab #TheWinter10 β I really enjoyed it! π
Itβs Sunday & itβs 8pm, so it must be time for #wildflowerhour! Please share your pics of the wild & naturalised blooms youβve found from across Britain & Ireland in the last week! Did you manage to spot the last #thewinter10?
I sometimes don't have to travel very far for #WildflowerHour! A lovely patch of Sweet Violet, Viola odorata, in my road. π
Wonderful splashes of Coltsfoot, Fran! It doesn't seem to grow in my immediate area; at least I've yet to find it.
Splashes of Coltsfoot sunshine beside the Kennet & Avon canal for #WildflowerHour
1st March says Spring to me, as do these: Cherry Plum, Primrose, Greater Horsetail, Opposite-leaved Golden-saxifrage, Common Whitlowgrass and my first Rue-leaved Saxifrage flowers of the year (a bit blurry in the breeze) #WildflowerHour
Lovely spring finds, Fran! So good to see!
Thank you, Fran! This is earliest I've ever found Toothwort and at a new location no less! I'll be checking my more familiar locations next weekend.
