a lot of folks don't pencil but it seems to be a bigger deal with Old School comics artists farther from mainstream or more into old Strip culture and World Comics farther from the manga/manhua sphere of influence since much of that scene especially has promoted that "pencil, ink, erase" flow
reminded me: when I was like 15 years old, I think it was Staedtler had a good 0.3 "drafting ballpoint" that looked cool, wasn't very expensive, but then didn't see it around by the mid-2010s?
probably about when I started experimenting with how light a stroke you could get from V5 (abt 19yrs ago)
