Back from Brighouse and a draw for @hallamfc1860.bsky.social against physical opponents who defended doggedly. We just could not find the final ball or finish, despite being the better side. Great effort. But, we will take the point and move on to next Saturday against Bridlington up at Sandygate.
Thanks Lewis. Really good piece. Starmer has made many mistakes, but on Trump and Iran he has got it right.
No legal basis. No clear objective. No exit. And much of Britain’s political class spent the week calling Starmer a coward for noticing.

I get the strong sense that the bulk of media are calling Starmer's position on Iran entirely wrongly right now. I simply don't believe that most people out there are either as hawkish as the Tories or as anti-everything as the Greens. Being conflicted in the middle seems about right to me.

A much needed win for @hallamfc1860.bsky.social v. Osset Utd today. In the first 10 mins it looked we were going to blow them away, but it turned into a scrappy game on a heavy pitch. Nearly threw the win away in added time but a last gasp winner secured the deserved 3 pts. On to Brighouse nxt Sat.

Our party has just come third in Gorton and Denton, a previously safe Labour seat - an area where we haven't lost an election since 1931.
It is those running our party who are to blame. We need change at the top and serious lessons need to be learnt:

Back from Grimsby and an excellent 4-2 win for @hallamfc1860.bsky.social They were unlucky to be behind at half-time but the team produced an excellent second half performance to dominate, and secure a deserved and much needed win.
I suspect it was a Civil Service idea and Ministers just fell for it. A bit like they fell for winter fuel allowance.
Would be good if the Prime Minister and/or Home Secretary would for once come out and describe this as the unadulterated racism and xenophobia it so clearly is.

As Starmer’s strategy to defeat far-right populism was to improve peoples standards of living & so show how Labour can make a difference, this is concerning. It was naïve & clunky in its assumptions & saw politics as a mere function of materialism not an independent sphere of activity. So what now?
The daft thing about Starmer is I think if he was honest about who he is - soft left, socially liberal, strong on law and order, believes in strong borders but also compassionate to those in need, leans left on the economy Labour members would be right behind him.
Back from Consett and a 3-1 defeat for @hallamfc1860.bsky.social on a damp and foggy day. Hallam were well below par in the 1st half - a shadow of the team that just achieved decent results against the top 4. Four halt-time substitutes and better application led us to winning the 2nd half at least!

If you were looking for an exposition of what British values *could* be you could do a lot worse than Ian McKellen wielding Shakespeare like a rapier.
Also, this is important: even if he was slightly suboptimal electorally (which I don’t believe), that doesn’t necessarily make him the wrong choice.
What is better, to govern well for three and a half years and lose narrowly or govern terribly for that time and win?

Pretty fair summary of a painful, but undeserved defeat for @hallamfc1860.bsky.social today. Any decent referee would have allowed some leeway for the pitch conditions and given a yellow card instead of red. The Matlock 3 would also have received 2 yellows for persistent fouling. But there we are.
Magnificent effort from the @hallamfc1860.bsky.social players today against a side with a much bigger wagebill and who are 2nd in the league. Although deserving it, we didn't get anything from the game, which was cruel. But the players should be proud. The officials were shockingingly poor. 😡😡
