Thanks @medscape.com and Dr. Gholap for summarizing our article so nicely
This study was supported by the Amy Strelzer Manasevit award from @nmdp-org.bsky.social
We found that lower serum neutralizing antibodies were correlated with increased risk for RSV infection after transplant.
Check out our new paper on RSV in stem cell transplant patients @fredhutch.org in @ofidjournal.bsky.social tinyurl.com/2ktkvmv8 RSV is a respiratory virus that can cause severe lung disease in immunocompromised individuals.
We found protective antibodies targeting the viral protein complex gH/gL. The results could guide vaccine and immunotherapy design.
Check out our new paper on Kaposi sarcoma-associated herpes virus (KSHV) in @plos.org Pathogens. Collaborative effort with the McGuire, Phipps, and Pancera labs @fredhutch.org. KSHV is a common herpes virus that can cause cancer journals.plos.org/plospathogen...

Cheers to Chandler! Thanks for helping set up the @fredhutch.bsky.social VIDD-Clinical Research Center. Best wishes at OHSU. Looking forward to seeing the great things you will do there.
Walked up to my office the other day and this made me smile. Thanks lab, you guys are awesome @fredhutch.bsky.social

This antibody has a unique mechanism of action which we characterize structurally. We also pressure tested our antibody for the development of resistance. It's possible, but it comes at a cost for the virus.
Check out what's new from our lab @fredhutch.bsky.social www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1... with 1-minute audio summary sciencecast.org/casts/0aqdo7... We discovered a highly potent antibody that can be used as prevention and treatment for a common respiratory virus called human metapneumovirus.
I'm riding my single gear bike (donated by my brother) over the hills of Seattle in the @obliteride.bsky.social on August 9th to support the @fredhutch.bsky.social Cancer Center, where I work. Below is my personal page. If you would like, you can donate. My best. secure.fredhutch.org/site/TR?px=1...

Flu season isn't over yet, & it's important for kids & adults to get vaccinated. βWith COVID-19, we got used to the idea that the very old are the only people who are at risk for getting seriously ill," UCSF's Dr. Peter Chin-Hong says. But with flu, "it's... also the very young.β

Thanks for a fabulous and productive scientific, clinical, and patient centered Tandem2025 conference by @astct.bsky.social weβll miss you Hawaii. Lab dinner at the beach before we return to Seattle.
Great talk and title by Elizabeth Eubanks βRaising the Epstein Barrβ from @dukemedschool.bsky.social @astct.bsky.social on therapies for relapsed refractory EBV post-transplant lymphoproliferative disease. Calling on Andy McGuire Lab @fredhutch.bsky.social to develop your therapeutic antibodies!
So good to see you and catch up with you @cgtgaithersburg.bsky.social about science and life
Interesting results presented by Elizabeth Krantz from @joshhillmd.bsky.social team @fredhutch.bsky.social @astct.bsky.social Tandem2025. Overall antibody levels are low in CAR T recipients. Re-vaccination is important. The Boonya lab collaborated on the B cell analysis.
Highlights from Justine Rossβ presentation from @cityofhope.bsky.social on RSV infections at Tandem2025 @astct.bsky.social 1) most respiratory viral infections occur during months 1-3 post-CAR T-cell therapy; 2) we need studies on RSV mAbs and vaccines in transplant and cell therapy recipients
Engaging talk by Jen Adair @fredhutch.bsky.social Tandem2025 @astct.bsky.social on efforts to make cell and gene therapy available in low and middle income countries. Academic centers need to step up. Great to see my friend @cgtgaithersburg.bsky.social in the Global Gene Therapy Initiative
