Our programme manager @jdavies92.bsky.social joined the packed room for the #LGAConf25 session on tackling homelessness in London.
Shockingly, 1 in 21 children in London are living in temporary accomodation - that's more than 1 in every classroom.
More than ever, urgent change needs to happen.

When tackling criminal landlords, renters play as much of a role as councils, our new research finds.
The Renters' Rights Bill risks letting criminal landlords escape justice, but the House of Lords has a chance to fix that tomorrow.

The Renters' Rights Bill is a chance to transform the conditions and experiences of renters - but only if its protected from being watered down by those with vested interests. Alongside @rentersreformco.bsky.social we urge the government to pass the strongest version of the bill without delay.
Our new analysis shows more than 1 in 4 peers in the House of Lords are landlords or have ties to property or lettings.
The govt must "hold their nerve and not give an inch to the vested interests trying to water down this crucial legislationβ - @darlingtom.bsky.social

We were pleased to coordinate this open letter to Angela Rayner on guarantors signed by 28 organisations.
Far from allowing certain types of tenants access to housing, guarantor requests are often a tool for discrimination. They must be restricted.

Image shows front cover of a report, with a young boy looking out of a window. The text on the cover reads 'Decent Homes, Affordable Rents: A private renters' manifesto for the city of westminster'
Image shows a wooden table with lots of laminated A4 pages of text across the table. The text in most cannot be read, but there is a copy of a report on the table with the title: 'Decent Homes, Affordable Rents: A private renters' manifesto for the city of westminster'
Today we joined @z2ktrust.bsky.social's renter-led manifesto launch. Our funded project worked with renters across Westminster (with many at the launch) and told shocking stories of their problems in the private rented sector. But they, and the manifesto, also gave hope that change can happen.

We shared our proposals for change, coproduced with local residents.

The #RentersRightsBill has now passed through the House of Commons. It's a significant milestone, but changes to rental law are only the first step in rebalancing power in the PRS.

The Government should make building hundreds of thousands of council homes its defining purpose.
No other policy, achievable within a Parliament, would bring greater social and economic benefits.

π’Calling those in Greater Manchester!
Our inadequate social security system is setting people up to fail.
But we have the opportunity to get a pilot scheme off the ground trialing a new approach which would give people enough to thrive, not just survive....
