Evolution and taxonomy of positive-strand RNA viruses: implications of comparative analysis of amino acid sequences - PubMed Despite the rapid mutational change that is typical of positive-strand RNA viruses, enzymes mediating the replication and expression of virus genomes contain arrays of conserved sequence motifs. Proteins with such motifs include RNA-dependent RNA polymerase, putative RNA helicase, chymotrypsin-like …

I can't double check it but think this one:

They had all main protroms rdrp, protease and helicase alignments by taxonomic groups :)

I cherish this mug so much that I don't even use it for liquids..
And it's from the 1993 my beloved paper by Dolja and Koonin. I will forever be grateful for @thekatybrown.bsky.social for such a thoughtful gift! :)

Their work was also what got me into virology without any hesitation:)

A dream! But this is how it is if you work on Addenbrookes' ;D come for a MnS meal, see the flu jab station, and leave immunised.
This seems even more streamlined;D

The front cover of the book: Crick, by Matthew Cobb

The front cover of the book: Crick, by Matthew Cobb

Loved this brilliant biography of Crick by @matthewcobb.bsky.social But what struck me from the start: it's also a portrait of a lost time in science: no grant applications or teaching, big travel budgets: the job only to think, talk & get science done. Future scientific biogs will be so different.

Do you know any similar general-public oriented RNA books? maybe it's not needed, but maybe there is a niche:)
