The reason this matters to me as a genetic epidemiologist is that I aim to improve risk prediction for young people, perhaps with 🧬. But it won't matter without appropriate treatment! It's not enough to know who is at risk. We need to improve implementation of guideline treatment for the young!

Guideline recommended statin eligibility and use among U.S. adults ages 20 to 39 years Guidelines for statin therapy emphasize treatment of adults ages 40–75 years, with less guidance for the treatment of younger adults, ages 20–39 years…

A bit delayed, but finally, here is a Skytorial (Bluetorial?) on our recent study of guideline recommended statin use in younger adults. #CardioSky #MedSky #CVPrev

How RNA Editing Could Offer New Insights Into Heart Disease Stanford’s Chad Weldy, MD, PhD, investigates RNA editing's role in heart disease, offering potential insights into genetic factors behind coronary artery disease.

Wanted to share this great write up from Stanford Dept of Medicine to the BlueSky world on our work understanding RNA editing and endogenous RNA sensing as a causal mechanism of coronary artery disease, check it out!

Happy Thanksgiving!

A holiday PSA: ask your elderly family members what tasks are causing them stress!

They’re probably trying to solve problems the same way they did decades ago.

You can almost certainly save them time & stress.

(Apropos of nothing, if my family sees this)

Our research now published 1 year ago: jamanetwork.com/journals/jam...

93rd %ile for JAMA IM publications by Altmetric score, and covered by National Geographic, among others, to date.

I hope it helped some smokers quit, and reminded ex-smokers that their hard work is paying off... Quitting works!

Loved learning from the excellent research presented at #AHA24, but such a joy to revisit some of my favorite paintings, too. Lucky to have such a blend of art and science in beautiful Chicago!

I'm biased, but findings with serious implications for preventive cardiology & health equity!

It's my first AHA, keen to connect with others in research. Come say hi!
