Scarves and leggings that you can take off later in the day as it warms up. I'm not a dress and leggings person until I travel.

I too have the gilet from Uniqlo, and it is great for travel. I also have a full down coat that squishes into a little bag, which I get even more wear out of. The coat's also great for shows where I don't want to deal with coat check (squish into bag, hang off belt or shove into purse).

I first mis-read this as Nick Cave, which somehow made it more plausible?

The Human Genome Project cost taxpayers $3 Billion.

Two decades on, it has generated a staggering return on investment of $1 Trillion, with benefits in medicine, agriculture, energy, the environment, & more.

If you want to boost the economy, funding science is one of the best things you could do.

NIH cancels its first and largest study centered on women The Women’s Health Initiative has produced numerous influential findings

I don't get how anyone can possibly be okay with ending the WHI. This study has accrued decades of data from 42000 women and it is still going. It helps to address critical research gaps that have been allowed to go unfilled because of durable misogyny and provides invaluable insight into aging.

On the anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic, we thought we'd answer a question that's often asked,

"If they raised the Mary Rose, why not raise the Titanic?"

Allow our scaled diagram to explain...

The cuts "would kill the much-anticipated Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope, an observatory seen as on par with [Hubble & JWST] that is already fully assembled and on budget for a launch in two years." Would also apparently close NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center. Huge, HUGE loss for science.

Every now & then I think about how people frame the #MeToo "era" as an "era" & not the ongoing reality in which women & girls have always lived.
