it really is astonishing how quickly it goes from “civil war” and “blood in the streets” to “wow guys it’s just a sad tragedy” when it becomes inconvenient
man they really didn't give a shit about that guy. as soon as it was clear they couldn't use his death to launch a purge they started to treat it like a nothingburger
Charlie Kirk did not deserve to die. Political violence is unacceptable.

I did warn a lot of folks on multiple occasions in 2022 and 2023 that Democrats in the Senate should just ignore the senate parliamentarian because that’s exactly what Republicans would do when they took control and… I was sadly exactly right.
All the reactionary centrists attacking Mamdami every day will deny -- to us, even to themselves I think -- that they play a key role in enabling this kind of shit. But that is literally their function in the current US political structure.
