I'm back from a brief hiatus from Marras development. I'm currently working on Arcade Mode systems. In Marras, stages will be synchronized with the background music to deliver a seamless, immersive experience.

Since the last post, I have been creating some enemy bullet patterns. Most of my time has gone to optimizing GPU bottlenecks in the game. This weekend, I will create new bullet patterns and work on Stage 1 bosses.

Since the last time, I have added collectible items and a couple of new enemies to the game. I have also done non-boss areas for the first stage of campaign mode. Next, I will focus on boss logic in code alongside the implementation of enemy bullet patterns.

The first version of ground explosion craters was added to the game. The next steps are adding one more ground enemy, a mid-boss, and the main-stage boss. This was a very productive Monday evening for me. Have a wonderful week, everyone!

Implemented a simple shadow system for game entities. It scales better in this project than the approach with more realistic results. William Faulkner's wise words, “In writing, you must kill all your darlings“apply in game development too.

This week, MARRAS development included refactoring and fixing visual bugs. In addition, a player death animation was created and added to the game. The death animation is still a work in progress.

I’d love to release for consoles, but can’t promise anything. The technical competence won’t be issue. Time and costs however will. Most likely the game will be available on steam first and then maybe on consoles later on. Thank you very much for being interested of the game!
This week, I was busy with Christmas preparations. Regarding the game, I fixed a few bugs. I also started to write a stage/level manager and adjusted player damage and enemy health. values.
Presenting one of the Marras's co-pilots. If you choose to pilot D-4 KAIHO, she will take the second seat and assist you in your mission. You might find her in this picture with an iconic pose. It could be a hint about her personality.
The bug has died. May them rest in peace.
There's one frame flickers happening with the lock-on target crosshair. Very subtle and I bsky seems to dropped at least some of the frames which the issue was visible.
You actually can't due bsky turns the video to porridge, but don't worry. The bug will be fixed nevertheless.
