Hello, to the best of my knowledge it's a seal of a medicine seller or medicine. You find the same characters on boxes made for carrying your wares (see photo). But to be clear I'm not 100% sure about this.

Seal, "敬天愛人" / "Revere heaven, love man", on walnut, 25x25mm. Design with inkscape, transferred onto the wood, carved by hand.

Looking at 趙之謙 seals and pulling up the characters in a seal design compendium just to notice they just put the same seal there too
Ancient dril post
Trying out seal design with inkscape
Hell yeah brother
Actually should probably say that from a contemporary seal carving guy PoV looking backwards into history, you probably go from Kawai to Wu, but of course Wu was in exchange with a lot of Japanese literati / artists
Big influence also on Japanese seal carving and painting, probably through meeting and correspondence with Kawai Senro (河井荃廬). Got to see some 呉昌碩 seals earlier this year in Tokyo.
Got a book on 趙之謙 and 徐三庚 seal works. My favorites when it comes to red on white seal design (as opposed to white characters on red background).
Went a little hog wild with the book purchases this month but I think I can be content with these for a while.
This is where I post from
Results after a couple of applications of shellac. Feels like everything comes off as more brown in the photo than how it looks to the eye. Might be camera white balance or low light in the room. Anyway nice samples for reference going forward.
Testing calligraphy ink staining on my walnut seal material. From the left, no stain, black ink stain, black ink and cinnabar ink mixed to various degrees, and on the right pure cinnabar ink stain. Next experiment is to try some shellac on top. #woodworking
I got a book on Japanese religious folk art.
Their series of seal books is great! Also very impressive collection of calligraphy related works. It's published by a company called 二玄社. I think they ship internationally from kokyu.nigensha.co.jp
Eras and men come and go... this posting style stays
Eh I guess I'm returning the extra ones. What do I need 12 saws for
Extra saw blades are nice but what to do with the handles? #woodworking bsky help me
Ordered one little coping saw for working on wooden seals... got delivered 12 🤔
Mail day. Feasting tonight with a book of seal work by 鄧石如 (1743-1805) and 呉熙載 (1799-1870)
無執故無失 - Neil McCauley (Heat, 1995) probably
