You need to reflash the unit with ESPHome though, otherwise it's still all operating through the cloud with HA as storage. I think I'd just go with ReFoss at that point

Yeah I might just go read-only then, ReFoss looks pretty good
Any products that you all recommend that are like SPAN smart smart electrical panels but without all the cloud dependency bs and can be ran locally? (I don't love the idea of something so important being reliant on a server somewhere existing forever.)
It scary
Maybe my city would fix potholes soonerβ¦
With all the hype Rivian R2 news, I thought I'd detail my hopes and dreams as a current R1 owner christianselig.com/2026/02/rivi...
They are in a sense, but they're not always at home and I'd like to be able to use them without worrying a ton about what it means for how much energy I have left during an outage
Curious, any Canadian folks have experience with getting larger home batteries installed? It seems like per the electrical code, going beyond 80 kWh can be tricky (not much if you have 2 EVs), so interested if folks have navigated this
For a macOS download?
macOS Tahoe downloading at glacial speeds (12 hours remaining despite almost gigabit internet connection)
could apple poke the download server I want the new xcode
Update: got a call that it was reversed! π Hash tag make bank account numbers UUIDs
I won the reverse lottery today. Mistyped my account number and deposited a check into a random bank account that actually existed π
Consider it done then, thanks Aaron!
Oral B Pro 1000 toothbrush on Amazon showing last bought December 2014 and it costs $69.97 CAD
Am I just doomed to keep rebuying this toothbrush every 10 years
Yeah I donβt want to install a bunch of separate apps though :(
Discovery: If you have Hue lights and want a single Hue dimmer switch button to *toggle* lights on/off, this is really slow in Apple Home (you need to run an actual Shortcut). In Home Assistant there's just a toggle command that is literally 10x faster. 2.5 seconds -> ~200ms π₯³
Like, sometimes you just want a good, physical light switch! Lutron seems to have the best: multi-button AND fast/reliable, but the bulbs are inherently dumb (warm light at high noon is weird, cool light in the evening is hospital-y)
The Hue light switches are so so slow for me, but over the network/through Home Assistant is plenty fast
Anyone have a βsmart lightsβ flow they really like? Currently have Hue and donβt love the lag/occasional bugs/weird switches so probably moving to Lutron, but I *do* love how Hue changes color temperature over the course of the day. Anyone pair both smart bulbs and switch?
Aaaannnd I switched to OrbStack instead of Docker and it just worked immediately. Seems to be this Docker bug, thanks for the OrbStack advice y'all github.com/docker/for-m...
Okay mine's been rather shit so far too. What did you end up going with instead?
A Terminal showing setting up nginx and jellyfin as services in docker, then running docker, then making a request to nginx and it showing an incorrect IP address as the one making the request (not my local address) and instead it being from a random, public-facing Jellyfin IP
Docker noob here. Anyone seeing Docker on Mac getting IPs completely mixed up, where destination IPs are getting assigned as the source IP? Isn't that like⦠a security issue? Or am I being a noob? (New Mac mini, new Docker install, no iCloud Private Relay, no VPN)
Figma artboards only showing support for the iPhone 16
Every year I wonder what architecture at Figma makes it so tricky to add support for the new iPhone sizes
WD Black SN850X 2TB for $580 CAD on Amazon
Ow, now the RAMpocalypse prices are coming for SSDs, paid $214 for this last year
Congrats on the big release! Always nerve wracking haha
I've spent weeks working on this big release of Please Don't Rain and it's finally out today.
I made a thread that shows the most significant changes.
You'll love it
