The risk of severe weather remains but perhaps more focused just to the south of I-70. The blog shares the morning models but we'll need to watch for wavering when the explosive storms pop! Linked in the 1st comment. JL

Another severe weather opportunity presents itself tomorrow. Set-up though is a bit different compared to Friday night. More on that in the latest weather blog.

Joe’s Blog: Severe weather risk increasing Friday (WED-3/4) Not a pretty start to the day around these parts (again) with fog, rain and mist/drizzle continuing in the region this morning. Temperatures will again struggle in the 40s today as low-level moistu…

Friday still has that look for the potential of strong to severe, fast moving storms. Gusty winds are the main issue but it bears watching. Blog is linked in the 1st comment. #mowx #kswx #kansascity

Joe’s Blog: Watching the severe risk Friday (TUE-3/3) Another cold and gray March day is in progress right now with periodic showers and sprinkles/drizzle as well. In a sense we’re still sort of stuck in the muck of low level moisture and weak l…

Stuck in the muck for another 2 days then things get warmer, with that comes the risk of stronger storms.

Very eventful yesterday...and this week will see the return of stronger t/storms perhaps for at least part of the area as the March Madness of weather begins. It's a wet pattern for the next couple of weeks.

Joe’s Blog: Super warm then very wet (FRI-2/27) For the next 2 days, as we finish February, temperatures are going to be running 20-25Β° or so above average which will continue to boost the average temperature this month closer and closer to 9Β° a…

Still a lower confidence forecast for Sunday in terms of timing of things. Later arrival is better unless it comes too late then worse. Temperatures will likely be above critical impact levels locally (a good thing). There are caveats. JL

Sunday is still looking messy and ice is my main concern for the Metro right now. It won't take much to create slick conditions but there are many ? still especially wrt timing and types.

Let's start paying more attention to Sunday. Colder surface air and warmer air aloft is a notorious ice set-up around these parts. Blog dives in #fox4kc #mowx #kswx #kansascity

Clean-up starts back east after the big blizzard and for us we have gotten rid of the cold air and now the 50s/60s and 70s return. Plus something to watch for Sunday.

Not often when a surface low pressure comes right on top of us. Your home barometer will show rather low pressure today. Colder air returns with maybe some flakes.

I've tried the Unidata download stuff and I can actually get the GFS in there as well as the 850 climos from PSL but getting the output into KMZ is an issue for me.

hey question for you...I'm trying very hard to get 850 model temp anomalies (let's say from the GFS) into a kml type file, perhaps every 12 hours of output over 168 hours. I'm not a coder at all. Any somewhat easy ways of doing this? JL
