Congress has to act or neither one of us will have a history class to teach anymore
We are gathering peacefully in Winnemucca to call on Congress to do its job.
The Constitution gives Congress, not the President, the power to authorize war and foreign military action.
This is about accountability, the rule of law, and standing up for democracy.
Peaceful. Lawful. Constitutional.
Congress must confront these unconstitutional actions taken by the current administration, to protect the rule of law, the separation of powers, and the safety of American troops and the public.
Criminal indictments do not authorize military abductions, and the U.S. has no constitutional authority to occupy or run a sovereign nation without congressional approval.
A president does not have unilateral authority to launch a large-scale military attack, seize a foreign leader, or declare U.S. control over another country.
The Constitution is clear. Article I, Section 8 gives Congress, not the president, the power to declare war.
There is no question Nicolás Maduro was a brutal dictator, but that does not erase constitutional limits.
President Carter has long since been my favorite President. From sharing the same birthday and faith, to love of peanuts and good music. As I make my own run for office, I look to people like President Carter and @warnock.senate.gov who both set the standard for what public service should look like
