The grifting never ends
Trump assumed a war would be helpful. It would justify emergency powers. It would deflect from his failures. It would make him seem larger.
But it is making him smaller, more hostage to what’s occurring than leader, more Netanyahu’s patsy than partner, another president sucked into a forever war.

JD Vance was just ruthlessly booed at the Olympics during the Opening Ceremony when he was shown on the screen. But you would never know by watching the broadcast on NBC.
NBC editing out the booing of JD Vance is a disgrace. It’s an international event. Americans have the right to know what the world is saying. NBC has bowed down to Trump.
You may recall that in January of 2025, artist Ann Telnaes announced that she had quit The Washington Post after editors killed a cartoon that depicted owner Jeff Bezos, among others, genuflecting to Trump.
This cartoon feels even more relevant this week.
