7pts from both or not good enough
7pts from both or not good enough
9 goals over the 2 Oxford Luton games this season, incredible; given the two sides often never look like scoring
Not sure his end product has ever been there before or after injury. Looks wonderful dribbling and going past players. Look fairly awful when it comes to the final pass or any form of shot. Biggest contribution is being fouled in a dangerous area for a free kick
Tyler as the 10, Romeny as the 9 is worth having a go with next week, Mills after how long he’s been out could be a few weeks before he start. But it’s a 3 I’d look to move to by early/mid March, probably stick with Placheta over Dembele due to the marginally better end product
Mills was the worst miss of the 3, but given his age, experience & wage I feel the Phillips miss is the most unforgivable
Although at Oxford he’d be attempting to assist strikers who are never in the opponents box so would likely be sitting on 3 assists for the season
Just need to be in the 45-50pt bracket. 45 for ‘this maybe enough but might need a little bit of luck, up to 50 ‘99% should be fine, only relegated in a freak hide tide season’ - for me 3 wins would be enough, assuming the rest will naturally be taken care of with draws..
*500-hour 😂😂
Both clearly dreaming of USA 2028 Olympic Games
I don’t disagree with those players, not sure they need to 100% happen this window. All could wait until summer unless there are plans to bring more players in this week. Certainly wouldn’t move 2 defenders on this week given the amount of injuries to defenders so far this season
Especially with Matos somehow playing the most unique role I’ve seen. A DM in the 10, like a defensive attacking midfielder
I’ve gone for 1 change, that being Placheta, given his injury record and GR saying he was being rested for PNE so not to overload him with games in short space of time. He started Plymouth & Bburn so I can see him on bench today, back starting Saturday
Oxford have 7th best home record in the Championship and are top of the last 6 form table (along with Leeds).
Luton have lost their last 10 away games.
Everything I’ve learned as a football fan throughout my life tells me Luton will win tomorrow #OUFC
I’m fairly sure they’re in the process of adopting the Oxford badge as their national flag
Always on the cards once Bradshaw come in, GR hadn’t given Scarlett much game time in the league before this. No way would he get enough to satisfy Spurs. Also issue of 25 man squad registration places being quite tight
Looked very assured today in defence, cant remember any clear cut Blackburn chance and usually we have to get away with at least 1.
Was unsure if it was simply a registration & admin thing rather than actual minutes on pitch
If Negru makes the bench but doesn’t get on the pitch, does that still rule him out being loaned to any club other than Salford this window?
#JusticeforSamLong
*to kick it out for a throw on the halfway line 🤣
Placheta has taken the job of replacing Josh Murphy so seriously that he’s even mimicked the ‘useless to outstanding overnight’ part of the role. True Professional. Fantastic week for him #OUFC
torn between ‘he had zero confidence, looked far too nervous, seemed relieved to complete even the simplest pass’ and ‘he felt he was too good for club and didn’t like being on bench for a #teamlikeoxford - leaning towards latter given how quickly the club appeared to have given up on him
a system change to 3 at the back and wing backs rather than using him was fairly strong sign
Good opportunity to bring in someone who will play help the club stay in the league, I’m more concerned about Scarlett & Edwards not appearing yesterday and what the plans for them in January are
Tbf in the league he’s made 4 sub appearances totalling 54 mins and he’s looked shot of confidence and quality at this level. Not played or been in MD squad since mid November. Writing looks to have been on the wall with this loan spell for a while now.
With those 2 games coming up, it’s very easy to distort the narrative of ‘oh it was 1 win in 15, now it’s back to back wins. It was clearly the right decision’. Would feel a bit disingenuous to me, they were games that looked winnable before Des left
It’s possible to win vs Cardiff & Plymouth and the club find themselves 7pts above relegation zone at the half way point. That’s a position we’d have all taken at the start of the season. We don’t know if Des would have won those or not but he deserved to have those 2 games
No wonder he didn’t look happy in this photo, what a 1st week in a new job for this poor guy… #OUFC
Perhaps the club are trying to get a march on other English clubs #Oufc
The board appear to either have no idea or don’t care that for a large amount of the fanbase that staying up or going down, Des was just as much a part of this adventure as anyone else, to someone that can be discarded when the championship was (predictably) tough. #OUFC
