Soldiers, airmen, sailors and marines of the modern military are trained to fight for each other and as a team. Yet every Republican gov't seems hell bent on propagandizing the military while not really supporting those that make it up.
There is nothing I hate more as a veteran than the "warrior ethos" that came out in the Bush years and calling our military personnel "warfighters" as if war should be simplified with buzzwords.

As a veteran of the Army this is so profoundly stupid. Military personnel are partly in because of career stability. Also warrant officers, especially WO5s, DO NOT HAVE FUCKS TO GIVE. And lots of them have friends in the General ranks. This will not end well.

He was also a socialist and tried to get more of that sort of thing into his books. Hell, he even let people run with it and pushed Baen to refuse book DRM and create the Baen Free Library so, it's fair enough to not like his books but the man tried to do some great things for his readers
