On the apparent Telegram crackdown on adult content: it's only a matter of time before Bluesky follows suit. It's governed by the same kind of corporate ownership structures as the big social media platforms.

Only Mastodon is safe. It's a distributed web of volunteer servers. No corporations.

I never really utilized any of the bigger community features so I don't feel like I lost anything and channels just feel like an alternative to bsky. Telegram was just slowly turning into discord and I don't like "everything" apps.

We don't need everything all in one app. We did just fine with sofurry or FA for content, various chat platforms for messaging, and other social media sites for long and short form posts. Putting all our eggs in one basket increases our risk. Just like everyone moving to discord or telegram has.

Furries (and other queer communities) are the canary in coal mine. Telegram is clearly problematic and I hope folks take this opportunity to finally leave it behind.

You can do channels on Signal by creating a group where only you can post and sharing the join link out.
