I mean this is the whole deal. Trump
Is
Putin’s
Puppet

The only way to actually resolve this in a way that’s pro American, vs pro Russian, is to get a new president.

There’s no other way; he’s utterly compromised.

The president is handing out oversized clown shoes to his cabinet β€” and watching to see who refuses to wear them.

It's Solzhenitsyn's Stalin story come to life: the first person to stop applauding ended up in the gulag. The lesson then, as now β€” never be the first to stop clapping.

Covering sessions daily at the Commission on the Status of Women this week, one question keeps coming up for me:
How can responsible media better amplify the institutions trying to address global crises?
Too often we are not meeting the moment β€” we are being entertained by it.
Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus & @DrTed...β€’ 6h
Global military expenditure just hit $2.7 trillion - in a single year.
According to @UN estimates, ending world hunger by 2030 would require $93 billion annually.
That means we spend almost 30 times more every year on killing each other than on making sure everyone eats.

This is Director of WHO. And that’s exactly the point I’m trying to make all day every day this week.

I’ve spent the last hour and a half reading it. Time travel.

I have struggled to read anything for such a long time but this was wonderful. Lessa and Ramoth. I missed them.

I just love good fantasy.

I just got dragonflight from the library. Revisiting Pern. It’s been a few decades.

Yes. I was very sad it wasn’t available here in the US. Last time we were in the champ I got the foxes package for hundred(s?) of bucks but this year it’s like Β£10 to stream 1 match if it’s not on paramount, which the way they’ve been playing…no. So I watched the highlights.

I’m just here for the sophisticated movie talk. My level of critical thinking is, good bad or did I fall asleep.

I kind of feel like this is resonating. We can’t feed children, no money. We can’t provide healthcare, no money. We can’t pay a living wage, no money.

But we can build a huge fucking bonfire made up of pallets of Ben Franklins and burn baby burn, day after day day.
Bombs Good, food bad.

Why is it if I like pictures of dogs somehow flipping hockey posts show up????

I don’t care about Ryan McTavish of the Oakland Scimitars or whatever. Bluesky you’re testing my patience.

The nicest almost 11 year old goldendoodle you’ll ever meet. She does the butt sway when she meets new people she’s so excited to see them. An 11 year old puppy who has more love in her than 200 humans.

somebody asked me what I thought about Dame Uta Frith's interview & while I have many thoughts I'll share just one:

if she is saying that increased access to community, insight, resources, and support (which statistically reduces risk of death by suicide) has somehow undermined her life's work...

Lucky.
I tried Fire & Blood. I tried the Silmarillion too. I even tried that roses prequel to hunger games. I just can’t do it. Not sure why but I barely made it ten pages in any of them.

And please understand I don’t support China’s dictatorship at all. But from an unemotional examination of their economic policy it looks a helluva lot smarter than Tariffs Good, Bombs Good, Trump Good.

What’s their GDP growth compared to US? 5.0 vs 2.2. Funny how 5 is so bad but 2.2 is, whooohoo! They also have seen their currency being accepted by some countries instead of the dollar, and they’ve jumped in bed with EU & Canada asap post Liberation Day. Xi may be a dipshit but he’s not that dumb.

& they have the luxury of longer term thinking unlike here where everything is 2 years maybe. From my very non expert view the vibes w/their embrace of solar, their remarkable EVs & the many trade/political deals they’ve grabbed due to US leadership vacuum all seem positive for China.

Ah. China seems best positioned out of any of the world powers though. Sadly as their human rights record is literally genocidal. I just didn’t know if they had invaded three + countries recently as well.

Did I miss something with China? They seem to be just chilling, letting the U.S. and Russia put the stick between the spokes waiting to come grab the bike after we’ve fallen off and broken our legs. They seem to be thinking much longer term than we are.
