While I love each season for what it is …. spring, summer, fall, and winter … my absolute favorite season is Hummer season. The first male stopped by yesterday, and he will no doubt be followed by hordes of hummers before long. Their antics will entertain us until October.
The deer even came closer than this, they were curious.
It was a beautiful spring day of cleaning out gardens, finding morel mushrooms, tree frogs and hammock time.

On my way out of the neighborhood this morning. I absolutely love this drive.
On my way to work this morning, I stopped to move a turtle off of the driveway. While doing that, I heard a pleated woodpecker, and then 100 feet later a Cooper’s hawk flew in front of my car. I love my drive to and from the house.
The cold winter sky is beautiful and a little dusting of snow and a hot beverage in my favorite ceramic cup. Loving winter.
I was very happy to see this handsome 10-point buck show up after hunting season ended.
It was a beautiful New Year’s Day to be outside enjoying wonderful weather in NC.
When work is having a contest for ‘chocolate covered anything’ I make English Butter Toffee.
It was a fabulous afternoon to have fun foraging for fungi in the winter woods.
Every day is amazing on the farm. While I was making dinner, I look out the front window and see deer, and then I look out the back window and see a hairy woodpecker.

The weather today was absolutely perfect. I enjoyed a walk in the woods and picking up trails. The fresh covering of leaves is beautiful.

I stepped out on the front porch to see the sunset. And …. There were two great horned owls calling back and forth. Always take time to look and listen.

There is a bumper crop of bucks this year. Numerous 6-8 pointers. Three months ago there were regular stag parties held.
Coyotes! Turn up the sound
When it is 45° out, and there is a clear sky, and no wind… The night calls for a campfire. And then when there is an almost full moon, the sound of crazy coyotes, the call of a female great horned owl., in addition to a space station flyover… It feels like I hit the jackpot.
This handsome guy just walked through the front yard while I was sitting on the front porch. While he may not be the largest I’ve seen, he certainly is bold.
