R.I.P. the great Neil Sedaka! :) One of the most memorable events with Neil is probably when he played the piano in Oslo around 1990 and a young Norwegian girl named Sissel Kyrkjebøe sang the fabolous "Solitaire": www.youtube.com/watch?v=8tKM...

Neil Sedaka was so talented, and he inspired me to follow my dream of being a songwriter.
With love and gratitude and condolences to his family.

The Washington Post headline reads: "Try a ‘fart walk’ to ease the pressure after that big Thanksgiving meal Whatever you do, resist the urge to lie down. November 24, 2025" Accompanying the article if a black ad white photo of someone walking on what appears to be a cold fall day. The camera is capturing their back as they're walking in a park with leaves on the ground. They are wearing a black coat and black leggings. The Washington Post has added radiating yellow lines from their butt to suggest they're farting. The photo credit says the image is from iStock.
Imagine posing for a photographer friend who sells your image to iStock and a year later, you see this is what The Washington Post has done with the image of you walking on a beautiful fall day
MEMO I have been asked to remember young eyes of a sailor in France You gave your lashes to your dear friends I have been asked to remember white nights in cafés the little cafés May all your drinks come true I have been asked to remember Tomorrow to wonder if ever we may no longer Be cast into prison for jail breaking I have been asked to remember one town's death or long division victory and I would remember my secret compositor his news That any human hand may set the headlines of a heart
looking at a poetry anthology from 1947 at the British Library, obscure enough that I had to ask them to cut some of the pages (!)
here’s a poem by Oswell Blakeston and Max Chapman, artists and writers who were pretty much a lifelong couple

Microscopy photo showing brain cells such as astrocytes (purple) and microglia (orange) interacting with cells infected with SARS-CoV-2 (cyan, for the virus nucleocapsid protein). It looks like the virus can already be detected in adjacent microglia.
We believe many neuro problems associated with #COVID come from the virus hijacking blood vessels to gain access to the brain. This is what it looks like for me, using super-resolution microscopy.
With thanks to @harryspoelstra.bsky.social, combining vascular and neuro to understand #NeuroCovid 💪
celebrating a 14th birthday
I might delete this later, but today is my kid’s birthday and we have a tradition that is the best thing I have done, or will ever do, in my life. So I thought I’d share.
It’s hard to believe little Rodney survived never mind living the life he now does.

The idea that we can try to do better by one another is reinforced each time you wear a mask.
There's a bond shared between those who take precautions and this speaks to why: there is joy in solidarity, compassion and kindness. Showing that you care enough to try is a radical act of love and trust.

It is truly wild that it is estimated that more than 20 million people died of Covid and the prevailing vibe is that the world overreacted. That is an astonishing toll! More people died of Covid in the US than in the Civil War. www.pbs.org/newshour/hea...
Dr Stone nails it…

Ancient English Woodland in the summer
I miss summer & the leaves on the trees, but not why you think
My father told me the wind helps the trees sing, & if I listen carefully I will hear fragments of music familiar to me
I am surrounded by a symphony of my musical life in our summer woodland. It reminds me of him
