I've been contemplating the lure of simpler life circumstances. With fewer things to distract or complicate, a fulfilled life seems so easy. In order to cut out things that complicate your life you have to understand what they provide you.

Our egos can get in the way at any time.
Avoiding drink is just the first technique to staying sober. Beyond that you have to understand why you sought to be un-sober. You have to find a reason to walk the sober path, and that is tied up with why you do anything.

1,048 days sober. Almost 3 years in, and I'm still learning. Like all things that we learn how to do, or relearn, it takes being vulnerable to ask for help from people who have walked the path we are trying to find. How we used to do things can trip us up any time.

1,021 days since I decided to stop drinking. I'm not magical. None of it has been easy. There have been more days than I count where I wanted to just not deal with the shit in front of me, and knock a couple back.
