Despite the #ceasefire agreement, we continue to see attacks throughout the #GazaStrip. More than 618 Palestinians have been killed in #Gaza by Israeli attacks since the ceasefire.
There is no safety in Gaza, where the humanitarian situation remains catastrophic.
๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ i'll save a copy too!
Nigel Farage lied multiple times at his press conference today - including saying no-one who voted Green in Gorton and Denton has a job and he's "certain" Reform won most British born voters in the by-election, based on zero evidence, and yet not a single journalist there pushed back on them
Quindi ministro Tajani. I suoi omologhi di Francia, Germania e Gran Bretagna sapevano dell'attaco all'Iran e lei era all'oscuro. Inoltre ignorava che, in piena crisi internazionale, il suo collega alla Difesa Crosetto fosse all'estero. Pronto, Farnesina? C'รจ nessuno lรฌ?
Still time to apply! ๐โจ

Very happy that my article with @genderedform.bsky.social , analyzing the responses to Italian PM Giorgia Meloni's posts, has been published by Critical Discourse Studies

Another example of the Italian Constitution saving the day. She may well have signed up as a full member otherwise. A strong constitution helps to stop or slow the slide to fascism, especially if it was written with that specific aim in mind.
With more than 80 participants already registered, there is still a bit of time to sign up to join us on Wed for an event on publishing in language, gender and sexuality. @lucyjones.bsky.social and @lexiwebster.bsky.social will help us navigate the publishing process. There'll be time for questions
Genuinely, if you live in the UK you should so the consultation just to find out some of the unbelievable details of what's being proposed. Even with their spin and obfuscation it's shocking
In a 2022 paper, Mandie Iveson and myself explored how discourses were trascending the manosphere, and were spread in mainstream "commentaries" of the world. Our work might be nowadays a bit old, considering how far this all seems to be going. ๐ฌ
Punish migrants and reward rich people. There is always this side of the coin too.

The justifications for their choice, and the language choices are really impressive. Know your enemy, and fight it. I wasn't necessarily expecting they would do that, but I am glad they did. Really interesting insights.
My lang, gender&sexuality students could choose among 4 options. Some choose "to be" conservative politicians giving a speech about reproductive health. While chilling (e.g. the defense of the family, the domestic role of women), I commend them for facing far-right anti-gender discourses.
Books on fascism
I took the task of teaching a class on fascism and resistenza in Italy very seriously, especially at this time! I'll welcome the students with Bella ciao.

Yes, I'll remember to tell the university :P
it was just so refreshing to see their open mind attitudes towards changing, reflecting, seeing the issue with it! Very uncommon in my experience!
Yesterday, I said that my research has moved on from gender inclusive language but.. last night I went to the first school board meeting where I am volunteering, and I raised a question about a sign with a generic masculine. They seem super open to consider changing it! So maybe my work isn't over.
from identity work, language and social attitudes, (academic) ideologies (in favour and against), the manipulation in anti-gender politics, the passage to genericity, the "confusion" on terminology and, in this chapter, the unfortunate negative appropriation in activism and mainstreaming.
Thank you to Falco and De Gruyter for giving us the chance to write this chapter which is, for me, a sort of goodbye to a topic i deeply loved: gender inclusive language. I think i have gone across, with 1 paper, 1 book, 2 chapers and 1 special edition as an editor, the whole spectrum:

Giorgia Meloni sara' costretta a capire che la sua amicizia con Donald Trump, e la difesa a spada tratta, le costera' probabilmente l'elettorato italiano. Ovviamente, non mi dispiacerebbe, ma e' sempre stata piu' calcolatrice di cosi'.
Sometimes impact in universities is measured with "big things": contributions to policy docs, meetings with important people. when this happens, how important really is the impact on people, especially in small projects? Isn't that the most important aspect of impact? Maybe, i've an idealised view.
