I Hate It Here. Track 7 on The Anthology, and the title spells it right out. Portentous lyrics: Now I seem to be scared to go outside, if comfort is a construct I don’t believe in good luck now that I know what’s what; This place made me feel worthless; Cause I hate it here, I hate it here.

So High School is the 6th track, and the only truly joyful song on the entire double album. I dare you to listen to this song and not smile and feel happy - it can’t be done. This is the only song that doesn’t fit into the dystopian theme; the closest it comes is: I’m hearing voices like a madman.

How Did It End. Come one, come all it’s happenin’ again; We were blind to unforeseen circumstances; The deflation of our dreaming leaving me bereft and reeling; I can’t pretend like I understand; But I still don’t know how did it end?

Oh, Chloe or Sam or Sophia or Marcus. You do break my cold, cold heart. I’m still processing these lyrics: As the decade would play us for fools; And you just watched it happen; If you want to tear my world apart just say you’ve always wondered; You said some things that I can’t unabsorb.

The Albatross is either the third or nineteenth track on The Anthology, depending on whether you are counting TTPD as part of it overall - it can be a bit confusing. We are going to call it third, and these lyrics hit hard: Wise men once read fake news and they believed it.

Imgonnagetyouback is the next track on The Anthology, which, confusingly, is both the secret second album (TTPD is definitely a stand-alone album), but also the FULL album, with all 31 tracks from the sister albums. Our lyrics today: Pick your poison babe, I’m poison either way.

Though we’ve finished the songs and lyrics of TTPD, we now get to meander through the surprise sister album, The Anthology. What a masterpiece. The first track is The Black Dog, and if you’ve never listened to it, sit back and treat yo’self. It’s fantabulous. I’ll put the lyrics in a second post.

Do you get much snow where you are, Luke? I’m in Michigan in the US and we get lake effect snow from Lake Michigan and can get feet of snow from that!

The 15th track is The Alchemy. This is one of my all-time faves, and it breaks my heart that there are lyrics that fit our current situation. They are: What if I told you I’m back?; and: I haven’t come around in so long but I’m coming back so strong.

God damn, this woman can write some powerful lyrics, but I do wish they hadn’t foretold the current future as well as they did.
