We need the little guys, the small battles, the day to day superheroics to make the big events feel big.

Yes, give me Thor stories where he prevents Ragnarok. Just also give me some where Mr. Hyde or Grey Gargoyle is up to some smaller scale shit.
Yes, let Batman prevent a big ass conspiracy meant to level Gotham to the ground... but also have him punch Ratcatcher in the face sometimes.
In superhero comics, not every story needs to be "epic" and not every villain needs lofty ambitions
The reason Spider-Man remains beloved is because we see him save regular citizens from "small" disasters or villainy - not because he prevents the universe from exploding once a week.
And listen, I'm not mr. Badass-oldschool-gamer. I'm generally happy with modern QOL stuff. I've seen a few instances of achievements used in creative ways, too.
But basing my idea of a game's quality on wether or not it fills out a list of shit that happened as if I am not actively PLAYING it? Nah.

At least you can turn off notifications, so it's not deal. But the very concept baffles me..
Nothing takes me out of a game's world quicker than shooting my first bad guy and then having a window pop up to go "YAY! You killed your first baddie! Cangwatuwations to my speciawest widdew guy!"
I can understand a desire for confirmation that you did something uniquely hilarious or cool (something unlockable content does already), but I am seeing people declaring entire games "garbage" literally just because of a "too few" available Achievements".
Like, really? You need asspats that bad?
My most Boomer-ass gaming opinion is that I cannot summon any fucks to give about Achievements. As far as I am concerned, it's the modern day equivalent of a "Conglaturation!" end game screen.
It used to be that doing cool shit unlocked new stuff in the game instead of just checking off a list.

Nothing big, just a bit of self-centered smugness on occasion that is, in good cartoon form, usually met with some kind of aesop-heavy mission right after.
It's just nice in a time where people seem to lose their minds if a cartoon protagonist is anything less than perfectly saintly for 3 seconds.
Teen snobbery at interests/jobs she doesn't respect, occasionally manipulative (She got mad she had to earn her own money to buy a jacket and signed RON up for a job he didn't want to get it), telling her "Best friend" to his face that she doesn't believe it when he's shown to have a y talents...
