God I love anime, but god I hate anime

Like, obviously "conformity to beauty standards = morality" is a problem with the global entertainment industry in general, but oh my god its so blatant when I watch a show and every character looks the same but with different hair, and the one guy who doesn't look like that is evil or dead.

This is all to say, I was genuinely so pissed off when I found out that the weird teenager with bad hair from DanDanDan was supposed to be a 70 year old grandma. I will probably never read it because of this, lol. I still get pissed off thinking about it.

Seinen/Josei manga is somewhat of a reprieve from this, but you can still see it creeping in from time to time.

Like I'm not crazy right? Anime and manga has been actively getting less diverse over time, it's rare to see casts with even more than one adult nowadays, much less different body types (Besides breast size of course, lol) No wonder bara is getting so bad now, we're being starved of options!

If you're an older woman you have to look and act like a teen/child, and if you're an older man you have to die in three episodes or less, and if you're neither of these you're a minor villain who will brutally die from the nothing burger protagonist sneezing on you.

The most important lesson DanDanDan has imparted to me despite having never consumed it is that oh my godddddd shounen manga/anime hates old people so fucking muchhhhhhh.

TADC has been really disappointing me. 3-4 episodes straight of threatening to change the status quo and then doing actually nothing has kinda killed my faith in the writing team to actually follow through with any of the story threads they've set up thus far. Mascot lore-ror vibe writing...

Why do I keep getting fictional crushes on Manga characters that are impossible to search on the internet?

Started reading Daemons of the Shadowrealm by Hiromu Arakawa, pretty big fan of it so far. Major SMT vibes (Minus the apocalypse) and you know she has us covered with the myriad of cute guys! I'm a big fan of Right and Dera so far.

I like cooking videos in theory but then they put on the youtuber voice, talk too loud/fast, and make it too obvious that they make six figures and never had to work retail or food service.
