Chart showing recent confirmed measles cases per year in England ranging from 1,414 in 2013 to 2,911 in 2024 and 91 in 2015
π§΅What is going on with Measles in England?
UKHSA has reported 96 confirmed measles cases since 1 Jan 2026, concentrated in London (64% of cases) and the West Midlands (26% of cases).
But what does this all mean? Is 96 a lot? Why is it happening? And what can we do about it? 1/8
I should have added that the βbrilliant physicistβ stuff is directly related to Thielβs post-democracy agenda. Basically these people are trying to convince each other (& us) that theyβre the cognitive elite who obviously should be in charge of everything because theyβre way smarter than us plebs.
As a Green party member, I do find all of this thread disappointing. That graph is abysmal, as is just quoting experts without asking them first.
@zackpolanski.bsky.social @greenpartyhan.bsky.social do better.
If Starmer is serious (he's not, ofc) he'd introduce strict new anti-lobbying laws, bring in firewalls against revolving doors, and undertake a deep, unflinching investigation into financial and influence ties in politics, with criminal sanctions.
The British Museum posted Al slop and quietly deleted it. Here's what it was and why it matters.

Amazing that the 39 figure includes *cautions*. Good GRIEF.

The right-wing press is going mad over votes at 16 ("a naked attempt to twist democracy in Labourβs favour", an "election-rigging move"...)
Oddly, they said the same 100 years ago when the voting age for women fell from 30 to 21.
Let's revisit the Mail's campaign to"Stop the Flapper Vote Folly"...

So,as a little thought-experiment, tell me something about the United Kingdom that works well and is actually quite impressive. I am not trying to sound like some boosterish politician. I just genuinely believe that making people believe that all is lost is a convenient pretext for shady characters.

Inaccurate to say "Reform voters are our people". Many people who have never voted Labour. Many say never would.
"Some Reform voters are engageable"
Lab should be interested in sixth of its vote [5% of voters] were Labour 2024 & would consider Reform. Few Reform 2024 voters gettable, maybe 1/6 are

In September 2023, geophysicists across the world started monitoring a very odd signal coming from the ground under them.
It was picked up in the Arctic. And Antarctica. It was detected everywhere, every 90 seconds, as regular as a metronome, for *nine days*.
