Not only is there a big chunk of dialogue about how the Russian PM's mistress is Elena Rishkov but the woman who played Elena Rishkov in SNEAKERS plays Affleck's boss here. Apparently Robinson considered the actress to be his lucky charm.
Also has a massive SNEAKERS Easter egg.
This is at its absolute best a 3.5/5 but like a lot of stuff like it these days gets a big They Don't Make Them Anymore bump.
Rewatched THE SUM OF ALL FEARS for homework purposes. Some of it has aged very well. Israeli nuke made from American plutonium repurposed by neo-fascists to start a war. Eek! Also a story about cooler head prevailing, which seems downright fantastical these days. Phil Alden Robinson!
Gonna have to revisit NIGHT ON EARTH.
That's what I was thinking but still.
Has anyone talked about the distractingly awful VFX in the opening car scene? I can't believe this is a thing I am noticing in a Jim Jarmusch movie.
Finally getting to the new Jarmusch.
Hater DMd that my formal reviews are so bad (a fair complaint) and I'm "stealing" a paying job from a better critic. Buddy, I ain't been paid for a review in I don't know how many years. My outlet even offered me a few bucks and I said give it to the new kids instead. Fuck you. I need better haters!
Sick! Thanks for the heads up.
Oh I was not aware of this? Are those on Prime now?
Am embargoed from telling you upcoming second season of hybrid reality show/mockumentary comedy is not as good as first season but still a delight and yes it made me cry at the end just like last time.
There is a lot of running and yelling and shooting and also a big robot in this new WAR MACHINE movie so it's a little surprising that it's boring as shit.
Rewatched FARGO after gotta be at least 10 years. That's just a flawless movie, right?
It's her second feature.
I thought THE BRIDE was a decent time, but I don't understand why it is inspiring "huge swing" admiration or genuine vitriol. It's mostly just idiosyncratic and messy, in good ways and bad.
