A tragic day in RI. My prayers are with the victims and all those who endured the horrors that unfolded at the rink. I hate this.

There is a time and place for using texts that aren't complex, but perhaps we could consider focusing on scaffolding instead, such as teaching text structures, analyzing sentences with complex syntax, explicit vocabulary routines, and engaging background knowledge.

The Rhode Island Science of Reading Conference 2026 is coming! We are thrilled to welcome Rhode Island’s own Kari Kurto, now the National Director of Policy and Partnerships at The Reading League, as our keynote speaker.

In 2,000 children followed from Grades 1–9, we find that #LearningDifficulties co-occur strongly with each other, but only weakly with #ADHD.
While ADHD affects reading comprehension over time, it does not drive reading fluency or arithmetic.
