Crucially, these unique, structured breeding habitats provide evidence for designating the area as a Vulnerable Marine Ecosystem (VME). This research also supports the proposed Weddell Sea Marine Protected Area (MPA). Thanks to co-authors Dr Taylor, Dr Woodall, and Prof Rogers.

We provide the first documentation of maintained Lindbergichthys nudifrons (yellowfin notie) nests in this region. 

We identified six distinct patterns (from 'Singular' to 'Cluster' and 'Oval') and propose this is a group defence 🛡️ against predators, likely nemerteans and brittle stars. (2/3)
