Have you seen Enchanted April? Just gorgeous. Funny, beautiful to look at, feelgood.
My new Reading Project post is up and FREE TO ALL! In this one, I discuss two distinct, and distinctly discomfiting novels: TO THE WHITE SEA by James Dickey, and Thomas M. Disch's science fiction classic 334.

with @treehousebookshop.bsky.social Chatting about things we'd love to do, incl bringing MT to gigs.
We don't know if it would work, or if there's a market in this area, but, if anyone would like to give it a try, for the joy of performing in this "enchanting" space then we'd love to talk.
Any Brummie of my generation will get a memory jolt when they look at the background of this picture. Can anyone help Mike with his query?
A woman (Lesley) and her mother (Dorothy) in a hospital waiting room - a scene from the miniplay βAdam & Yvesβ
Looks like a theatre company will be acting out my short playscript βAdam & Yvesβ at a venue in Wimbledon on 31/3. More deets to follow - in the unlikely event youβre in the area on that date, and free, you might like to go along.
This is so so good that I'm even prepared to overlook the brief audience clap-along
Hurray!

I love Bob, but duetting is not his forte...
I do love his books, he's one of the very best for me, will definitely watch.
Very cool exercise.
A blog post about a visit to an English seaside town is written in ever-older forms of English until it becomes incomprehensible to us. Even though the whole thing is in English. I stopped understanding at 1400.
A reminder that language isn't static.
If you haven't read it, go get a copy asap. #BookSky

February has been good at the shop, but it's a short month and hasn't been good enough to make up the serious shortfall from a very quiet January. Everyone will be paid except me. So here is our online shop for anyone who wants books or merch! (UK only) #BookSky

Think of all the crap stuff that happened in the pre-AI world, and scale it up without limits. That's where #AI and its loathsome proponents are going. #ChatGPT #LLMs
One week until Iβll be chatting with Mark Norman about my forthcoming book on the BBCβs A Ghost Story for Christmas at QUAD in Derby.
And itβs just one event amongst a plethora of eldritch endeavours at this yearβs UK Ghost Story Festival
I read it at 20 and was blown away...I read it at 35 and thought it was puerile fantasy but somehow compelling...maybe now I am 60ish I need to read it again. It's extraordinary in its way, but not 'the greatest love story ever', as the film bills it.

That's exactly how starlings talk.
We should find another word fairly quickly, I'd say...
