Chimpanzees have culture. Do they also have cultural heritage worthy of protection? @simonfitzpatrick.bsky.social and I argue they do in our new paper, because their cultural practices create value.

My student loan debt is almost at 90,000 GBP ($122k USD). I graduated 10 years ago w/ a BSc+MSc. I'm now a university professor, so it was a career necessity to go to university. We often critique the US for its high student loan debt, but of all my American friends my debt is significantly higher!
I know we live in a car-centric society, but I'm not the only one without a car for whom this would be useful for. It took me ages cross referencing potential PCPs with the bus and CalTrain routes recently, surely integrating Google Maps' transit data on the base map wouldn't be that difficult?
Really wish health insurance companies would integrate public transport routes into their find a provider maps/lists. I'd rather see a PCP that's further away from my house if it's on a direct bus route, than one closer who is difficult to get to on the bus. #healthcareaccess #publictransit
This looks like an interesting opportunity! I'm excited to join!

The thing is, you can actually live in France, participate in life with a B1 level French, I did it having got an A in GCSE French. But I was far far far from fluent.
I studied a social science 10 years ago and am now an academic in a STEM/Social science adjacent field. I can't stress enough that I honestly couldn't have afforded to go to uni (and thus wouldn't have the career I have now) without the maintenance grant I received.

For MS/MPH in Epi/Public Health what are the norms around emailing faculty at the institutions/programs before applying? I know this is the norm for PhD programs, but I have a recent BS in Public Health grad who is about to apply for MPHs and I wasn't sure what to advise!

There is a lot in a name and there has been a push in global public health to move away from names that can easily be exploited to stigmatize entire regions or groups of people. This is not "woke" it's simply the right thing to do.

I have my first academic office (I had to share a lab space during my PhD) and am trying to decorate it! I already have the most important things in (the books on my bookcase) but would love to see how other academics have decorated (or not) their offices as well if possible!
