At this time in history, I really need media that reminds us that love is always with us, and that we need only look to each other to find it.

So why should you play Mythmatch? Because it has so much heart. Because some of our players enjoy the minigames so much they only do those, for dozens of hours. Because it’s so funny, and because it asks us what it means to be human, to participate in our community, to lift each other up.

He spent countless hours carefully listening to everyone’s perspectives and experiences, while also welcoming us into his creative world, showing us his goals while always allowing for new ideas to take us somewhere fun and sometimes unexpected.

The driving force behind Mythmatch is @oneofmoo.bsky.social, who approached the development of this game with so much curiosity and respect for every single team member and player. I frequently forgot Moo was my “boss” because we had so much fun diving deep into design discussions.

For me, the goal of working in games has long been as follows: Make awesome stuff with incredible people who give a damn. I’m so fortunate to say that my time on Mythmatch was a literal dream come true in that regard. I couldn’t have had a better time if I tried.

I’ve been largely offline recently but I’m breaking that pattern to let you know that Mythmatch, a game I was *so* lucky to work on, comes out on Friday!

It would mean to world to me if you could check it out and tell your friends about it!!

“Looking to hire an artist of color” okay but are you gonna pay them well? Are they gonna be the only one on the team? Are you gonna listen and advocate for them when they express concerns? Like, what are you offering a person of color when you want to hire one?

From 2008-2018 the video games industry existed for financial interests to incubate what they wanted to become the new economy. Gambling on everything, addiction by design, mediated social spaces, even massive GPU production. They don't need games anymore so they left games behind, wounded.

Last week when adobe said they were gonna discontinue animate I got really angry and started building my own animation program. I’m calling it FrameBoy.

an important step in fighting competent yet vapid LLM generated text is getting really cool about the breadth human writing. it's not unprofessional to have dyslexia, write in a non-native language, struggle with spelling. communication is a team sport
