I am so SO excited to announce that Delphinium is published by Serenity Forge! It has been an absolute joy and an honour working with them, the game could not be in better hands ๐ฉต

I can't believe how far this game has come... This is huge information, congratulations!!!! :D
A friend of mine who runs these things always repeats something to me along the lines of "Playtests and Research isn't for telling you the right thing to do, it's to confirm to you that your assumptions are correct and that your intentions are getting through to the players" and that's stuck with me
Saw a post on here recently (need to find it again) that echoed thoughts I've had for a while, which is that feedback should measure how well you're communicating your vision, not to get "data points" of how you should compromise it. Isn't there more to art than marketability?
I look at the renp'y/visual novel subreddits from time to time, and it makes me a little sad when people post their work with captions like "Would you play something that looked like this?" If you are looking for feedback, please... Ask something that doesn't invalidate your artistic vision!
This post feels like when teenagers go "adults drool!" on social media, and instead of being normal every person in their thirties is like "tch... you ignorant child... to think that kids would harbor such disrespect these days... well, get owned: I am an adult, and I do not, ahem, DROOL,"
Has anyone considered that, in Scooby-Doo, the message is there is no monster greater than that of man and the evil we do unto another?
...Ah, what am I saying... Of course no one's considered it -- it doesn't make any sense. Stupid, stupid, stupid! I'm such a fool...!
RPGMaker horror continues to advance, but I think that at its core, it's about a young woman doing a box push puzzle and getting instantly crushed to death because she stepped on the wrong tile. And perhaps something chases her, too.
Were they trying to go for a "jester inflated with bike pump" look here. What were they thinking
Happy birthday!! (>^_^)>๐ง
it is learning so much about da world...
am just now discovering the wikipedia birthday globe... how adorable
thank you bluesky for suddenly posting my three attempts all at once
Okay that is enough of terms like "woke 1.0" and "woke 2.0" i think
they will not let me post this for some reason but i refuse to be silenced
As someone who's addicted to watching food videos on there it genuinely needs to be bombed from orbit. Like if tiktok felt worse to use, I assume
Exactly!! I thought it was a really interesting piece of experimental storytelling, and I was satisfied with Shinji's character arc/the emotional conclusion at the end. I really have no idea how I'd feel about the End of Evangelion, given all the stuff I've heard about it (like the hospital scene)
this was supposed to go in drafts but sure let's hit publish instead
I guess it's still funny to me that I never watched End of Evangelion, and possibly never will. I am one of the only people on earth who was satisfied by the infamous two-episode "we ran out of money so now it takes place in shinji's head" ending. 0 plot answers 0 lore 100% "congratulations"
I know that we are in a "media literacy" crisis, but also you guys cannot go "get media literacy" for everything. Sometimes I completely understand what an author is doing and still go "man this sucks ass"
WHO WANTS TO BE THE EMPEROR? is a micro visual novel about an amateur assassin and an unlucky guard trying to hide a politician's corpse. It was originally made for the O2A2 jam 2024, but has undergone edits since its initial release. Takes about 5-10 minutes to play! Totally free! Link below!
Lenora, dressed in fencing gear, smiles and throws her arm around Mr. Guard. He's sweating nervously. He's also improperly dressed, with his BattleTech hat and terrible Warhammer 40k shirt (which says, "I heard there was HERESY and got here as fast as I could!").
LENORA, DISPLEASED, POKING MR. GUARD: Why are you wearing nerdy crap to my fencing competition. MR GUARD: Since WHEN do you fence???
Lenora shows an annoyed Mr. Guard a tiktok slop video of bottles rolling down a stairwell and breaking. LENORA: You're the red bottle and I'm the bottle that goes all the way to the bottom LMAO
Lenora and Mr. Guard in the modern day. He is no longer allowed to bring her to board game night after the Incident (they played Risk as a duo and were so good they dominated the game and started larping as evil dictators) #oc #emperorvn #doodle
Thank you! I've definitely thought about it, but I feel like a continuation would involve a heavy focus on murder plots and shenanigans, whose details I would be quite weak at fleshing out... If I ever figure that out, though, I'd love to pull it from the ideas vault. It's what they deserve.
I can't believe that, every now and then, someone still looks at "WHO WANTS TO BE THE EMPEROR?" I still wish that I hadn't been restricted by the 1k word limit (so much more I wanted to do with the pacing/conversation that I just couldn't), but I look back on it with pride!
I like to believe she has a radio she absently monitors local stations on, and whenever she hears interesting trouble she rides over to help. Afterwards she does a little "gimme gimme" motion and if you go "ah... I have nothing to repay you with..." she frowns and starts raising the gun
Character concept I've had on my mind recently (no art): housewife whose husband and children all perish in the nuclear near-annihilation of the United States, immediate happiness and life fulfilment as she becomes a sort of lone rider/vaquero in the remnants of the American southwest
(getting on my soapbox) and while I am on this topic I believe that choosing character names based on the supposed "meaning" of a name is infinitely less valuable than choosing one that evokes a specific feeling, has a specific association, matches the character's vibe, etc.
The hardest part about initially naming people in a foreign language is that you just have no innate understanding of what sounds good, or even of what associations that names may have in that culture. Like how the name "Eleanor Rockefeller" has a different feeling than "Mary Jo Hunter" in the US
THE CAT: Ha! You can't kill me! Go on - try it!
Dr. Bohring: Alright. [shoots him] [the CAT explodes into a mist of blood and gore] [dead silence for a minute] [drip... drip... drip...] [second, identical CAT appears in doorway behind him] ["Woah! Looks like SOMEONE had a bad day today!"] #ktc
I like how you can tell how mad I was by this point by the lack of cake plate and zero effort put into decoration
Cake, exactly as described.
Tried to make the gluten-free version of Stella Parks's yellow cake, and instead created a beautiful American honeycomb cake with a delightfully thick layer of wet, chocolate-flavored sand #food
