Oooh another one just came to me Plastic, Prism, Void by Violet Allen. Saw it one netgalley and if I had time I'd request an arc, but from the description I'll probably be getting it when it comes out anyway.

Also returned Soul On Fire but did not read it because the first book was so homophobic & sexist particularly towards Black women. And the sequel he becomes Christian, so I didn't think he would have a vast change of viewpoints.

Soul on Ice by Eldridge Cleaver (1.5 ⭐)
First 90 pages were ok, everything afterwards was bizarre & extremely homophobic. A whole chapter throwing a tantrum that James Baldwin dislikes writers that the author likes, which ends with Cleaver comparing gays to pedophiles.

Life For Sale by Yukio Mishima (3.5 ⭐)
Super hard to rate, I loved it's absurdity & dry humour, but the author's misogyny is also very present. I'd honestly love to read a book about him as it seems he had a fascinating (if a little scary) life.

That is a bit weird, like if the chapters were more equal it wouldn't stand out, but one massive chapter really sticks out. I don't think this would harm the rating for me on its own. It would definitely puzzle me though.
As a "just one more chapter" reader, I would find this very strange, especially if the other chapters are nowhere near as long.
Finished book 4 of tgcf yesterday.
4.75 ⭐ - so close to a 5 star tbh because the reveals were so good. I'm not going to in depth, but I may be enjoying this series even more than mdzs which seems sacrilegious because that series changed my brain chemistry for the better.
