The final salmon fry samples of the year were just collected in western Iceland. One year old fry are being sampled for signatures of genetic introgression of aquaculture salmon following an escape event in Patreksfjörður in 2023. Video is from Kjallakstaðaá by Fellsströnd.

Mitochondrial barcoding of DNA extracted onboard during the expedition revealed circumpolar connectivity of the species, with intraspecific sequence similarity >99% across all sample sites, from Norwegian water across to Canada.
The first article from last year's expedition on the famous Polarstern that I participated in has been published.
The amphipod species Amathillopsis spinigera was found for the first time during this expedition in the 25 year sampling history of the Fram Strait.

Mosquitoes have been found in Iceland. The mosquito species Culiseta annulata has been confirmed in Iceland. It might survive the cold weather in Iceland, at least in Reykjavík.
