30 years ago I volunteered as a clinic escort in Buffalo, NY and most of the ‘regulars’ were grey-haired granny aged liberal women who put their bodies on the line in the dead of winter. I’m 51 now and still view them as my role model for activism. These women are fulfilling the tradition.
