A allegory of Providentia stops a fountain at a square in the center of Vienna. In the background, a multi-storey building in light yellow, the sky is stark blue.

A certain friend has unfriended a number of people, but I remember their comments blaming "Joe" for the price of eggs and their friends commenting in turn they couldn't wait for the 20th of January rolling around (happened on ye olde shall-not-be-named book).
Thank you for your kind comment!

Lucky you, a badger out at daytime!
I once took the wrong path in the Vienna Woods and had many extra miles to walk to get back to the HΓΆhenstraΓe.
My mother sang for us before bedtime. She knew ballads I wished I had written down. We kids would always beg her for one more "story".
I have only ever encountered friendly waitstaff there!
Meeting with colleagues we always get a table with a socket in case any of use needs to power up. And we all can only drink so many coffees in an hour or two. ;-)
'When my dear mother first taught me these songs,
So often, so strangely, her eyes filled with tears.
And now these brown cheeks of my own are wet,
As I sing them to my Roma Children.'
No one sings the songs of DvoΕΓ‘k like Pavol Breslik; this is my translation.

Will look for the CD at the State Opera music store!
I grew up listening to DvoΕΓ‘k, always loved him, but I am not familiar with the songs you linked to - thank you again!
Thank you for the post and link!
Just outside the walls of the Lainzer Tiergarten - Lainz Game Reserve - a year ago tomorrow. Another gorgeous nature hike in the city of Vienna, start at one end and finish at the other gate, both - and a few in between - can be easily reached by public transport.
May you have a great one!
I had lunch guests (that always includes coffee and dessert here in Vienna and lasts til at least 4 o'clock). While clearing the dishes I realized my coffee cup was still full. Misery, now it's too late to sip it.
Very sad, all that talent.

Almost 20 years of drinking coffee in Vienna,
and I have yet to encounter a grumpy Viennese waiter.

In the Vienna Woods, old dried leaves, a plant with green leaves, a light purple liverwort blossom. "Hepatica (hepatica,[2] liverleaf,[3] or liverwort)[4] is a genus of herbaceous perennials in the buttercup family, native to central and northern Europe, Asia and eastern North America. Some botanists include Hepatica within a wider interpretation of Anemone." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hepatica

Yes, it is a wondrous place.
I walked past there less than an hour ago.
I once hiked the whole of the "Tote Gebirge", from Wurzeralm to Loser and then down to Altaussee. Took about a week, rustic cabin overnighting.
