Sensible Vancouverites don't want Vancouver to be a "bitcoin friendly city". Why? Because more bitcoin = more crime, more fraud, more exploiting vulnerable populations.

Here is what I’ve been saying about Bitcoin:

Here is what Ken Sim has bee saying:
Today Vancouver council is set to approve a staff recommendation to back away from their push to become a Bitcoin friendly city.
Here's my story about it, along with an extended montage about what Ken Sim has said about Bitcoin on various podcasts in the last two years.
Proud to welcome @jessforvancouver.bsky.social to the Vancouver Liberals as she runs for Vancouver City Council in 2026.
Jessica has spent her life standing up for people to build stronger, inclusive communities.
Vancouver needs more voices like hers at City Hall.

Happy International Women’s Day. Today our team joined the International Women’s Day March at the Vancouver Art Gallery.
Happy International Women’s Day 💜
Today we celebrate the women who lead, build, care, create, and strengthen our communities every single day.
Curious about the progressive options for Mayor in Vancouver? I caught up with Kareem Allam to ask him your questions directly. His answers, and part 2&3, can be found on my IG:

Dan Fumano: Despite silence from his ABC party leaders, Vancouver Mayor Ken Sim still has key backers vancouversun.com/opinion/colu...
I joined @simisara730cknw.bsky.social to discuss issues in Vancouver.
Ken Sim hasn't apologized to Chinese community, despite saying he would. Everyday more questions than answers emerge.
Ken has lost the moral authority to lead & should resign.
Vancouver deserves better.

Big congratulations to the Vancouver Park Board! 🎉
The Kitsilano Beach Connection on the Seaside Greenway just won a 2026 HUB Cycling Infrastructure Improvement Award. Great news for people who bike in Vancouver. 🚲
Happy Holi to everyone celebrating! 🌈
The festival of colours reminds us of renewal, joy, and the beauty of diversity in our wonderful city.
Meth is a growing concern in our city, and BC needs a deliberate long-term strategy.
Methamphetamine is a leading cause of violent incidents and puts people at risk.
Just like the plan Wab Kinew is working on in Manitoba, we need a thoughtful, long-term meth strategy that focuses on safety, treatment, and recovery in Vancouver and BC.

Chag Purim Sameach! 🎭 ✨
Wishing Vancouver’s Jewish community a joyful and spirited holiday.
I got it. I’m just so thrilled that there was at least one human in the “Blueskyverse” that got my sense of humor. 🙏🏽
🥰
I’m really disappointed to hear that Car Free Days in Vancouver have been cancelled this summer.
These fun, free events are the heartbeat of a vibrant community — bringing neighbours together, supporting local businesses, celebrating music, culture, and connection. They make our city feel alive.1/2
The math on this is impossible to calculate. Will there be a point in the year where Calgary is two hours ahead or will we be in the same time zone? I think the answer is unknowable. 🤣🤣🤣
⬇️ Months ago, I stated intimate partner vi-lence would be an election issue this October. #VanPoli

I wonder if Google, Apple, and Microsoft will all auto adjust our digital calendars for BC time for those out of jurisdiction Zoom calls?
4/ Meanwhile, Ken Sim’s hill to die on is protecting the proceeds of crime for the worst criminals in Bitcoin
Vancouver needs a thoughtful approach that targets violent criminals while making meaningful progress on the lives of those they exploit.
3/
4️⃣Gender-based and intimate partner violence has dramatically increased.
5️⃣Unprecedented numbers of businesses are closing, reporting crime as the primary reason.
2/
1️⃣The number of unhoused people in the city has grown by 12%.
2️⃣Barrage, decampments, and housing bans have spread homelessness throughout the city while disconnecting people from services.
3️⃣Drug use and toxic drugs continue to plague the city’s most vulnerable.
1/ When Ken Sim and Lenny Zhou spoke about the DTES last week, they demonstrated not only a lack of honesty toward their council colleagues but also a cheap attempt to deflect from their record, one that has made life worse for people in the neighbourhood while making few in Vancouver feel safer:
We just started with a few community housing projects. But not many. I’ve read material that attributes a part of the increase to the closure of rooming houses. I think you are right as to part of the problem.
2/
1️⃣ 10% are ex-veterans and ex-RCMP
2️⃣ 30% are women escaping gender-based violence or intimate partner violence
3️⃣ 22% are seniors
4️⃣ 40% are Indigenous
Meanwhile, ABC protects the money-laundering tools that enrich the people who prey on them.

1/ When ABC spread misinformation about the DTES, ban supportive housing, and decamp from parks to sidewalks and back to parks again (for millions of dollars a year), let’s not forget that of the unhoused people that are our friends, families, and neighbours… we are talking about:
I didn’t think @jmcelroy.bsky.social was being snarky. A major news and thought leader amplified my content. I’m super grateful.
I believe that it’s my generation’s responsibility to create the winning conditions for the next generation. That social contract is broken. We need to bring young people back to Vancouver. Here’s the full video: www.instagram.com/reel/DVUqfV4...
