Incidentally, on the very crowded bus I was on today coming from visiting Mom in the hospital, some young guy offered me his seat. It took me a second to realize he was doing so because he thought I was old.
Naturally, I took the seat. I mean, free seat. C'mon. Vanity only goes so far.
One of the great things about earlier Twitter. Another of mine was me talking about the "unexpected item in the bagging area" thing in supermarkets and saying I'd put a really unlikely item in there one day, like a surviving member of the Monkees, then Micky Dolenz retweeting that. What a guy.

Yes, fascinating movie---but also fascinating as a portrait of life with an obsessive artist. I think of that terrible, painful scene in the food court where we can see that marriage collapsing.
I've been deploying "Northern Exposure" as an escape/comfort in the face of what's happening with my dear mother. I haven't see it since the high days of reruns on A&E circa 1996, & yet so much is etched in my memory. Also struck by how strange a show it still seems. Need to visit Roslyn, WA.
