Yesterday FirstGroup announced it had acquired the London Paddington-Carmarthen open access operation from Grand Union. Today it announces an order for new trains for both that and its existing Lumo/Hull Trains operations.
FirstGroup now has numerous open access services either already operating or in the pipeline. Lumo and Hull Trains already on the East Coast Main Line, plus it wants Lumo to run to Rochdale from Euston, and serve Carmarthen and Paignton from Paddington.
