and here are my pre-teen white-haired faves. they remain in my heart always 💕 i remember my cousin's disbelief when i replied "hell no" when he asked me if my jjk favorite was satoru gojo lol in general i believe that all of them have depth and immense development! (except geto....)
he'd always mention "oh, ykw, i think i can point out your fave, watch me," whenever we'd watch anime.
he successfully identified these characters. which is to say my cousin's observation is passe lol guess the (apparent) common denominator
every time my cousin and i would watch anime waaay back in 2004-2008, he would point out my faves not even five minutes in. asked him how he could do that, and he said "because you like white-haired guys."
fast forward to now, my husband made me aware of the dissimilarities of old and new me...
aside from the glaring intellectual property issues (let's not go there, i'm off the clock) if a writer claims this as their own, is it really theirs? i mean the prompt is there, but the words appeared almost out of thin air. i think doing this betrays the whole process and the solemnity of writing.
not to say we don't use tools for writing, we have online dictionaries, thesauruses and a lot of tools at our disposal. i'm just horribly against using AI to fully generate fiction using prompts. reader, i attempted to do that on gemini and gemini delivered. i am aghast, to say the least
i wonder what the writing landscape on ao3 is like now that AI is booming. i'm afraid to find out, actually. what if i read this beautiful piece of fiction only to discover that a huge chunk of it is AI-generated? i'll pass out, probably
dang, my brain is hard-wired to nope the fuck out for longform writing pre-kindle. i might have been negatively pavlov-ed by the legal documents i constantly read on a daily basis, which sucked. i'm glad i have been more forgiving of myself and my previous inability. i'm glad i made progress.
what helped me get to this point perhaps is to just ease myself into reading again, if that makes sense. kind of like exposure therapy bit by bit, lol. i started reading easily digestable works like my old lyric essay readings, then gradually moved up to anthologies, then full novels.
i've finished five books, three grapic novels and three manga series from the time i bought my kindle til now, and i've never been happier. it's absolutely exhilarating to find joy in words again after a good while.
falling in love with reading again. i resent having to deal with legal documents past my shift, so i read on my kindle whenever time permits. this actually led curious workmates to ask if i'm not tired of reading words. i used to. but now i found reading enjoyable again, and my kindle helped a lot.
i’m so happy that i am capable of spoiling my senior citizen gal with my own grown-up money (this is coming from a thirty-something moon with the mental acuity of an adolescent 🐈🐈⬛) look at her sleeping so soundly on the heated blanket i got for her to ease her arhtirtis pain 🥹
i have done nothing but rot in bed all day, nursing a headache that won’t leave me in peace. i had to repeat episodes of modern love thrice, like the way you have to reread immediately preceding pages of where you’re at in a book when you’re completely unfocused.
fsr the “rules” got more and more complicated throughout the years, and idk if this is millenial brain talk but we used to just have fun and gush before, and expressing a contrary opinion is well-received despite it being that what it is. weird times
