Her red eyes with their focused gaze fastened onto her foes as she vigilantly struck, evaded, and turned their own momentum against them. It was good training, but not as satisfying as the expressions of living, breathing opponents that she could hunt like prey.

Crushing their helmets with the palm of her hands when the opportunity presented itself. A seasoned veteran of the Demon Realm, the epitome of cruelty in combat, the symbol of nauseating fear. Seeker of greater adversaries to crush beneath her heel.

Syphonia is practicing her fighting form against her black-clad soldiers of artificial origin. Halberd gripped in hand, she rushed them ferociously without breaking a sweat, moving nimbly as she swung in wide arcs, knocking them aside. Piercing their armor.

Her lips curled into a grin at the welcoming idea of a nice, relaxing day. She could save her usual plans for later.

The demonic general swished her tail from side to side as she sat in a fancy, cushioned chair. Her golden hair shimmered, her ruby red eyes gazing as if focused on something invisible to the untrained eye.

“It wouldn’t hurt to go somewhere nice. Some invigoration or a succulent dish…”

“You sell yourself short while having power that most would envy. Maybe you could have your own go at this grand story. You do have all the time in the world.”

“I did regret it at first. It was the most internal conflict that I’ve ever lived through. My old self would have been happy succeeding at purging those emotions, but my current self wouldn’t change a thing. It all means too much to abandon.”

“For centuries of his absence, his father took back the throne until he was unsealed by someone outside of the realm with a grimoire made by that very sage. Imperion decided to send his forces to attack Earth after regaining his throne.”

“I used to work directly for the Demon Lord Kitaro after working my way through the ranks in his army. Eventually, he abdicated the throne so that his son, Imperion, could rule in his place. The spirit of conquest thrived under his rule until he was sealed away by a mysterious sage.”

“New talent as in people who can provide valuable data for my faction’s army. I was aiming to see if anyone wanted to contribute but most don’t bring anything revolutionary to the table during an examination.”

Syphonia perked up, startled at the sudden burst of laughter that fell upon her ears. The demon’s mouth opened slightly, surprised at what she had heard. Her cheeks reddened slightly as she was struck with intense emotion.

“I can’t believe it…I…”

“…It’ll pass. That or you get strong enough to bear it. All that can be done until you’ve dealt with the root.”

“I guess we never did exchange them. I’m Syphonia, a name people don’t often forget.”

She launched her halberd into the air, the tip of her weapon emitting a violent crimson pulse. In mere moments, a scarlet rain of projectile fire pelted the land, creating a booming display of crimson lights that left craters in their wake before the weapon returned to her with a metallic clang.

“If you know how to gauge the mortals’ most passionate desires with allure, you’ll have them eating each other alive just to bask in your presence.”

Syphonia’s eyes glimmered with pride and excitement.

“The feeling that comes with it is intoxicating.”
