A Blue Tit sits on the left side of a thin branch, small and neat with a blue cap and white cheeks, while a larger Great Tit perches on the right with a black head, white cheek patches and a bold black stripe down its yellow chest. The Blue Tit on the left is leaning forward as though trying to read something below, while the Great Tit watches on expectantly... Above the image is the caption:
“Ok, he’s writing …”
“Just tell me.”
“Blue Tit x2… sorry mate.”

also featuring, the Berlin Archaeopteryx!

Discovered in 1874 it's often said to be the most beautiful and most complete and honestly, it's hard to argue with that. Genuinely breathtaking. 🦖🧪

Today’s #AutumnArrivalSpotlight is the Goldcrest! ✨

Our tiniest bird takes on an epic journey, with arrivals from northern Europe and Russia joining our resident birds in autumn.

Weighing just 5-6g, it’s incredible to think such a small bird can make it across the sea!

The Redwing steals the show in today’s #AutumnArrivalSpotlight! 🍂

Their rusty red flanks and soft ‘seep seep’ calls are a sure sign of autumn as flocks sweep in overnight from icy Scandinavia, Iceland and Russia.

Spot them enjoying berries in our fields and hedgerows.

Have you heard the nightjar’s eerie, engine-like “churr” this summer? These mysterious birds stir only at dusk, often heard but rarely seen. Spotting one is a magical moment - have you experienced it yet? 🐦✨

In a comic strip panel, person in a red shirt walks through a sunlit forest. The text says "Sometimes I go looking for a tiny part of the universe."

"This part only takes up as much space as: half an apple, a salt shaker, or 2 ping pong balls." Each of these items is shown.

Galaxies and stars swirl as the text says "But somehow, in an unfathomably huge universe," and then there's a complex mess of forest leaves, with one tiny Wilson's warbler in one corner, and the text says "this one tiny part"

There's a close up of the warbler, blazing yellow against a sparkly yellow background, and the text says "can fill up my whole heart."

This photograph captures Sir David Attenborough seated outdoors on the rugged terrain of Skomer Island. Behind him, the ocean and coastal cliffs form a scenic backdrop under a clear sky. Sir David, dressed in a khaki jacket and light trousers, looks towards the camera with a gentle expression, exuding a sense of warmth, calm, and wisdom. Around him, puffins can be seen flying and perched on the rocky ground, illuminated in rays of golden sunlight as the sun sets behind the cliffs.

Happy 99th birthday to the man who gave voice to the wild. 🎉

Sir David Attenborough, thank you for a lifetime dedicated to the natural world, and for sharing its story with wisdom, wonder, and grace.

You've inspired generations to fall in love with nature.

A painting of a portrait of the palaeontologist Mary Anning. She is wearing a long, tiered dark dress, a bonnet and a red scarf. She’s holding a wicker basket around her elbow and a hold a hammer in her hand. Her other hand points to a small dog on the ground.

A six panel comic. In panel 1, a yellow warbler says "Hey, so I'm going to go out on a limb here". For the next four panels, it hops down along a branch. In the last panel, at the end of the branch, it sings a little song. I'm sorry.

Look I have zero excuses for this, but the idea popped into my head and now it's in your head, sorry
