We need a name for this, something like vice-signalling, where people, usually in or around tech or finance, claim to do some quirky bullshit that patently doesn't work just so they can post about it to build their personal brand.

🌍 Why do not all immigrant groups support progressive parties?

➑️ @korinlind.bsky.social & @antvalentim.bsky.social show immigrants from established democracies are more likely to back green parties than those from (post-)authoritarian regimes www.cambridge.org/core/journal... #FirstView

Now might be a good time to untether electricity prices from gas prices and work towards ending dependency on oil.

Have these moments with my students all the time. You haven't heard of Carly Rae Jepsen? Robin Thicke? You can write off most things from before then.

Some Images from β€˜R.U.R.’ A 1923 Čapekian performance

I came across some images of the first UK performance of Čapek’s "R.U.R." that I hadn't seen before, so I posted them online: profadamroberts.substack.com/p/some-image...

Very excited to see this paper out in the world! Across 3 rounds of interviews with white Minnesotans, I show that white id varies and responds dynamically to shifts in context. Many whites have low id but vary in how they interpret whitenessβ€”as providing them dis/advantages. 1/7

Dr Alice Hodkinson, founder of Biology in Medicine, a campaign group, said: "We have known for years that cross-sex hormones are harmful for all children through to age 18 so we welcome this announcement.

"However, cross-sex hormones do not become any less harmful on a patient's 18th birthday. There is mounting evidence of the long-term adverse effects which include heart disease, stroke and early mortality.

"For all age groups there are huge concerns about access to illegal drugs privately and via EU loopholes, where patients are accessing prescription hormones from Spain and Ireland in particular, and also the use of illegal anabolic steroids direct from websites.

"We hope the Government will act on all these sources of hormones to protect vulnerable groups of children and young adults from bad actors."

While Labour continues its anti-trans agenda by denying medical assistance to trans young people, it will never be enough for certain "gender critical" ideologues. They won't be satisfied until no trans individuals can transition at all.

My critics want silence – but advocating for peace is what democracy demands A week ago, I attended the apolitical Stop The War Coalition protest in Parliament Square alongside hundreds of fellow protesters. Since then,…

Muslim voices speaking about war in the Middle East are treated not as participants in democratic debate but as suspects within it. Our motives are interrogated, our loyalties questioned, and our words interpreted through a presumption of bad faith.

Influencing in the Time of War Are influencers, hot takers and rage baiters equipped to deal with a world that isn't so easy to define anymore?

Wrote about how the simple world of influencers, rage baiters and Big Voices are starting to feel obsolete in a time where our reality is becoming more fractured and murky

People should be REALLY scared by this, it's normalising refusing healthcare to a section of the community for entirely ideological reasons with absolutely no medical reason

Good to see Guardian highlighting this, and always worth remembering how many curators, academics, and activists of colour (often women) have spoken and campaigned on this topic for many years. πŸ“œ
