I wanted to post this yesterday, but I got massively sick and wasn't able to. So I wish you a happy belated Valentine's Day.

I went 1/4, two of my losses were quite bad, but I am not mad because my win was against an 1850, where I blundered an exchange in the opening and still fought on. The remaining loss was against another 1850, we both played a good game, sadly I missed a knight fork in an equal endgame.

I hope so. Cause if I perform well enough, I will finally meet all criteria to get a rapid FIDE rating. 😱

In two hours, another of the monthly rapid tourneys I am playing starts. My brilliant mind wanted to play some blitz games to get warmed up… I lost all of them. Self-confidence in my chess skills is an all time low.😬

The carnival celebrations in Germany are coming up in a few weeks, so it's time for the little pawns to get their costumes ready.

Went to see Wicked today. I stumbled and fell to the floor while getting to the restroom. Scraped open the entire length of my forearm, and both of my knees are badly bruised. I could not defy gravity.

Despite my deep dislike for painting landscapes, I nevertheless decided to give it an attempt after seeing the paintings by LandscapesByMike on Etsy. Due to my lack of experience, I had to entirely rework it three times. It was exhausting. Probably won't paint another landscape for quite a while.

A few moves later, we are in this position: I calculated: Qd3 c4 Bxc4 dxc4 Rxc4. Thinking I could win two pawns back this way. But I had to learn that there are a ton of refutations to that. Most of them involve a pin on the a6-f1 diagonal. On this week's training plan: pins

Form today's game. My brain did a big oopsi. I missed the pin and blundered a bishop. I played Qb1. I disliked the qweentrade because I was scared that the pawns would march down the board. I recognized that if I allowed Qb4+, I would lose my horsey, so I played Qb1, still protecting that square.

As a wannabe artist, I sadly can't afford a fancy attelier, so the bathroom has to do (it has the best lighting, and the cleanup is easiest. ). And yes, I am using the rim of the bathtub as a seat while painting.

Been reading Silman's complete endgame course, and I am starting to see results. Take the 14 hundreds to the endgame.

I am not 100% happy with some of the line weights, but I am too lazy to correct them.
