I see, what I said then works both ways then. If they mention something less mainstream, people would still have to google it.
But if they only keep mentioning Ripley and Conner, then they don't know enough about strong, feminine, characters either.
Umm, Judge Anderson (2012)? Alita Battle Angel (2019)? Major Kira (1993-1999)? Galadriel (2001)
Ripley and Connor are iconic, that's why they get mentioned repeatedly - you'd have most likely heard of them.
If I mentioned Motoko Kusanagi (1995) or Mariel Gullwhaker (1991) you'd need to google it.
