Conservative theory is self-filtering, like email scams.
If you are the type of person that actually follows up on what you're told by researching and looking into things, you will naturally filter yourself out of far right pipelines.
They don't want that from you. They want obedient talkboxes.

The last video he released that I saw, he kept hinting at doing a zoom-in onto a 15 year old's breasts under her clothing and only didn't do it because he'd get monetised, but he said he would do it on Patreon. lol
I immediately got a bad vibe from that, and lo and behold.

Amazing game but all I'm saying is this: There are big conclusions to take about the people who evangelise this game, when you think the game hasn't sold anywhere near enough to be SUCH an evergreen discourse.
And the turn-based angle is even more insufferable. These are not fans of the genre.

I hate this particular discourse because it's stealing the affectation of caring about representation when really it's just an excuse for these people to attack Kojima.
As a woman who actually deeply cares about these issues, AND a lifelong Kojima fan, it annoys me doubly.

Randomly showed up on my timeline but yeah, same. I remember back in the forum days discussions were very different from today. People still hadn't gotten used to this idea that you were never gonna meet the people on screen so everybody still more or less obeyed some rules of basic civility.

FF hate is just an easy-baked, pre-wrapped, microwave-heated argument that any shmuck can parrot without further analysis.
It's like hating the Star Wars prequels, or Nickelback, or Taylor Swift, or Starbucks.
Everybody *does* but nobody elaborates how. They just reflexively think they do.

Uematsu was talking about the Squaresoft of the time -- he is not making a values judgement of the company, the IP, anything that these people are twisting it into.
Sakaguchi was a leader to the teams and he left; the people who remained felt scattered and rudderless for a time.
It's expected.

Well, unfortunately Sony is not subsidised by the third/second largest ultracorporation on the planet and cannot afford for their IP to perpetually cannibalise its own sales for some subscription that's there mostly as an added service to the core product being manufactured and sold.

Well yeah, those apps aren't built to work. If they worked, people wouldn't be on them for long.
Much easier to just meet people thru hobbies to make friends instead. Eventually someone will click. It's very weird that people go out and meet people already under the premise of romance from the go.

Agreed.
Ultimately I'm not so empathetic to him. Watching his stream with that Twitch therapist was extremely enlightening. He just quite simply cannot conceive of a world where he isn't fully in control of all of his biases and faculties. He truly, genuinely believes that.

He misunderstood the pitch of the initiative, had reasonable concerns which were unfortunately based on a misunderstanding, but instead of accepting he was wrong when people corrected him, he dug his heels in.
He's done this many times before, unfortunately. Professionally too lol.

Yes, but also, as someone who was already 14 years old and playing FF games in 2002, I tend to find that most of the people being a bitch in your ear about how much it sucks AREN'T really from that time at all.
They're just adopting an opinion because it gives the impression of critical thinking.

Don't let it get to you.
Kojima hate is like Final Fantasy hate. It's like hating on Nickelback or the Spice Girls back in the day. It's one of those things where people just see others doing it and just mindlessly repeat.
These are not people who play KojiPro games nor ever will.

It does require a very large time investment which may not be possible depending on your personal life -- they're large JRPGs and there's over a dozen of them at this point.
But it's one of those cases where the more you play, the more you know about the world, the better it keeps getting.

Get into the Trails universe.
It offers something no other JRPG franchise has ever managed: A cohesive, detailed and extremely indepth worldbuilding spanning sociology, mythology, geopolitics and history. You can read newspapers, books... Even public transportation has detailed reasoning lol.

This is a narrative piece. Any legitimate criticism will never be acknowledged. Even I'm contributing to the engagement by commenting.
She isn't genuinely distraught by the rude replies. She expected them, and they are the point.

I think they understand how important this partnership is, and that they should not stray from the dotted line. So I trust that they'll do SH1 justice.
But ultimately the names haven't changed and the issues with their prior games is ideological, not lack of experience. Have they changed? Not sure.

There were those who thought the same when they were bought and sold. When you and I couldn't vote or when gay people couldn't marry. But those victories came. No matter how hard they tried, humanity still won.
I'm not prone to sentimentality much but I will say this: History moves left. Have hope.

Quite a difference between an engagement algorithm, and a thing that uses engagement algorithms.
A dynamic difficulty adjustment system in a videogame is "an engagement algorithm".
AI sexbots are not that, and it's easy to see the difference.

I've been saying this for a long while since models were being trained for chatbot purposes.
Watching the meltdown when Xoul.AI shut down, seeing people genuinely heartbroken over not being able to chat with their fake sex bots was horrifying.
These things are built to manipulate.

I think if people truly care for this genre, there are a number of fantastic ones that just came out. Hundred Line is an insanely fascinating genre-bending game, and we're about to get a remake of THE best worldbuilding in the genre -- Trails in the Sky 1st.
Hope to see y'all there.

I also think the resolution was puerile at best and failed to account for the fact that the moral quandary essentially boils down to the life of 1 guy we knew for a bit, vs hundreds of thousands (millions?) of innocents.
I dunno whether to be offended or laugh. That is "trolley problem" for babies.

I loved E33, don't get me wrong. But I love a lot of JRPGs. In my 36 years of being alive I've played hundreds. It's my favourite genre.
But for all the furore about how confident the game was in being a turn-based RPG, it sure shoveled a lot of "Please Don't Get Bored" mechanics into its combat. >

I loved it, but Hundred Line felt more honest with itself. It, along with Suikoden and Lunar just came out, and I'm not really seeing any movement about them.
My earnest desire -- and I say this with love -- is that the folks propping E33 up will be there when it counts for the future of the genre.
